Thank you all for the advice on going gooseneck and the advice regarding brands. Here is five pictures of my new trailer.

And to save some of the questions here is some info:

Great Northern Trailer Works out of Sutherlin, Oregon

2007 14K rated 20'+5' dovetail, spring loaded ramps, center popup, spare, 10 'D' rings, 3 winches, Dexter Axles, treated wood deck, locking tool box, dual spring loaded landing gear.

Price was $ 6,480. 00

It was interesting shopping for trailers in how much it was like shopping for a car. I saved quite a bit shopping around. And I also notice some huge price increases hiting the new trailers if you ordered in. A PJ dealer in Portland stated the trailers like mine were all jumping about $ 800 for steel cost increases and that delivery costs had doubled.

I also had to get 'perm' plates on the trailer since it is rated at 14K (or over 10K) and also had to get 'T' (truck) plates for the truck since the trailer will be registered at 14k. This cost me about $ 480 just at DMV yesterday. As soon as the trailer hits 10,000 pound the costs go up big time, (RV's are exempt). This is for Oregon.

You'll be glad you bought the gooseneck trailer. That old Chevy Blazer on your trailer in the photos would put a lot of weight on the ball five feet behind the rear axle if you were hauling it on a conventional trailer. It probably wouldn't be much fun to pull but the gooseneck will track straight and true without sway.

I like your GN trailer. Wouldn't mind having one, but I don't believe I could justify the price.

I did not think I would be spending this much either but after almost 6 months of looking around on Craigslist and ebay without much luck and shopping around for new trailers it is what I ended up paying. The used ones all seemed to be 20 or 25K rated trailers which I did not need and/or they were 40' long trailers which I would not be able to park on my side yard. I also looked at several PJ's but the cheapest PJ with a similar setup I found was $ 5,895 and that was before the spare tire and 'D' rings and strap winches were added and did not include the popup. And during this time the quotes for ordering started to creep up about $ 800-1000 due to rising steel costs and delivery charges. Right now to order this the trailer would be about $ 7,500 through a couple of the local dealers. And a similar PJ to order would be around $ 7,000. It might just be this area or the time of year.

And because work is about 75 hours a week right now, being a CPA, I was spending way to much time looking and shopping. So found it, bought it, and parked it until April 16th:-laf And I am very happy with what I bought.

It does pull way better then the bumper pull deckover I have used, which worked okay. But this feels so much safer and better, I should have done this about 3 years ago when trailers were not so expensive.

Oh, I don't have a problem with the cost of the GN, in fact I think it's a good price. My problem is I don't have enough use for one at this time. I have a 16 ft , 7K, two axles Big Tex bumper pull trailer, which I wouldn't give up for anything. I just don't use it that much let alone a larger GN. It be nice if I already had one.
