O. K. I installed the Blumenthal full splined main shaft trans. and the South Bend 13" clutch. I have to mash the pedal to shift gears with instant engagement on the release. I have chatter in the release. While stopped at a stop light, I have big time noticable growling with the trans in neutral. When I push the clutch in, the growling stops. What could be going on here? I spent BIG BUCKS and my truck was better off before without the 5th gear that spun off... I'm ******... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ?

No need to post the sound. It's not right. Besides the growling, when I shift from 3rd to 4th, I have to rev real high because once in 4th it sounds like I'm lugging it until it hits turbo boost. A kinda high pitch growling/whining. Its just noisy as hell. And its a brand new rebuild. Has anyone ever had trouble with Blumenthal rebuilds? Lots of money and I have to drop it again for another that I hope is done right...

... seems to be that is all we can do when we break open the wallet to get one of these done. Has anyone here had one redone that worked right afterwards? If so, who did it?

Its not a bad pilot or throw out bearing its something in the transmission, it sounds like it doesnt have enough end play in the shaft. If they are put together too tight the syncros are not able to do there job. It also causes too much preload on the bearings which is probably your noise. A throw out bearing isn't under any load until you push the clutch which is when it would be noisy, a pilot bearing is also under a higher load when the clutch is depressed, although it is under load when the clutch is not depressed.
