I was in hopes that since dtt's customer service is so **** poor maybe the $5k trans would be so awesome it'd make up for it. Not hardly. After 4 days of calling I talked to a tech, he informed me that he really couldn't tell me anything about why the trans is lugging and jumping from second or third to overdrive since my tach is broke. Anyone have any suggestions

i would say fix your tach, that might help solve the problem. if you have a code reader, plug in and look at the live data, if the computer cant see rpm im positive thats the problem. the pcm/trans is gear hunting. if the computer can see the tach, and its just the guage that is broken, then you might have another problem with the trans.

find a gauge cluster from a junk yard and put it in yourself. it takes about 30minutes to pull apart and a think the only tool you need is a screwdriver.

aaron

sorry i am no help with the trans issue.

When I put my transmission in my 07 I pinched some wires where you splice the shift enhancer in. It made it act something awful.

I was told that you had to have the dealer do it so that they could sync it with the ecumenical or something to that effect. Anybody know for sure?

If it is just the cluster that is bad AND it can be seperated from the controller then no programming is neccessary. If the cluster controller is bad or the cluster can't be seperated then the delaer will need to flash the new controller with the VIN of the truck or the truck won't start. You need to do a little checking to see if those 2 items can be seperated and which one is really bad.

The TCM doesn't use the rpms to determine operation anyway, pretty sure it is only APPS and wheel speed. Rpms and output shaft speed are used to determine functionality but it would throw codes if those could not be read.

From your description the truck is shifting too soon and killing your power becuase the negine is not revving. Shifting is controlled by ther interaction of TV pressure and governor pressure. The gov pressure is controlled by the ECU and there is no effective way to change its ramp. What frequently happens is the TV adjustment pressure gets set too low\high for the available gov pressure and you get stacked shifts.

What will work is backing the TV pressure off on the VB. Not every truck is the same and you may have to play with it to find the sweet spot.

Since you have a TTVA motor did you get a Shift Enhanser? If it is set too high or on the wrong setting you may have issues also.

It really osunds like you just need a little tuning to find the sweet spot for your truck.

The tach in my '06 has not worked for the past 4 years. Dave Goerend installed a transmission in my truck over the summer with the tach not working and didn't have a problem. I really doubt the tach has anything to do with it. By the way, Dave answers every time I call.

Ok, you need to find the TV pressure adjustment on the side of the VB. Its will be next to the line pressure adjustment PR settings.

I think you need to increase the TV pressure so when you find the screw turn it in a couple turns to increase and see what happens.
