I'm up to 105k and I'm ready for the BOMBs- Can I get away with an aftermarket triple lock converter and a valve body upgrade or should I go ahead and buy a beefed up aftermarket unit? I plan to get the comp and bigger injectors, with a turbo upgrade later. Or should I sell the truck and buy a manual? The cheapest full transmission i've spotted is around $3100- By adding a converter and vb my expense would be far less. I know that the input\output shafts are essential if you plan on making big HP, but They are pricey too... what do you guys think ?

With what you're planning on doing, I would go with a rebuilt performance trans.

I went with ATS at 107,000 miles and it is the best thing I ever did to my truck. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. If you've got 105,000 on your truck you'll soon be needing clutch packs if you bomb the engine, and there is no use in pulling your trans twice.

And I wouldn't go with the cheapest transmission either. There IS some junk out there. You should start to call around, call ATS and DTT and BD etc. and go with the people you feel the most comfortable with. Do it once and do it right!!

Most definitely go with a performance rebuilt trany like the ones ATS offers. They are good tranys that have been rebuilt with quality parts, many of the parts are beefier then stock, and all are installed right. They also make all the needed adjustments and improvements like a new valve body, clutches, and an improved oiling circuit. Then top it all off with their triple-lock TC and a Commander unit.

The main concern here is the expense- I would love to have an ATS or SunCoast but then I would not have any $$ left over for BOMBS- What kind of cash are we talkin?
