Attention: TDR Forum Junkies A few weeks ago my 96 (manual) 5gear went out. I finally got all my parts and tools together and plan to do a rebuild this weekend on the transmission and replace the clutch since it has 224000miles on it... and I have a #11plate & 3GSKs. I bought a 98model shift cover, tower, and shifter so I will have a much shorter throw and faster responce, however the 98 shifter if a lot more different than I expected. The stock boot will not work with it and I cant change the boot because it's a 4x4 and the boot is a one piece. I've heard that some guys actually made their own adapters for the boot so it still looks somewhat stock. I know a machine shop that might help me, but I need some ideas here and photos if anyone has them.
