2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission New Truck, EVS Question

Hello,



I just purchased a new (to me) 1995 2500. Oo. It appears to have some sort of alarm on it. There is a sticker on the back glass the says EVS. To start the truck you have to push in a switch below the steering wheel with the ignation on, At this point the doors will lock and the truck can be started. There is also a switch below the steering wheel that that moves side to side (that appears not to do any thing) and has a light that blinks before you push the switch to start the truck. I traced the wires back to a EVS Module with three connectors.



My question is,

1. How does this system work?

2. Is there a way to remove the EVS module and have a normal truck. I tried to disconnect it but it would not start.

3. What does the other swith that goes side to side do?

4. Can new remotes be purchased for this system?



I am afraid that I will get locked out of the truck, or the horn will start going off and I have no way of stopping it? :--) :--)

Is there any way to get in contact with previous owner? Seems to me the alarm system would have been explained at purchase. Try contacting the company. Other than the obvious I'd take it to an installer. Mike
