When getting a new truck, whats a good mileage range to expect? It seems that if a dealer has to get a truck from another dealer he will drive the truck instead of having it hauled. I'm thinking that as I'm spending $40K on a truck I should be getting a truck with no more than 10-15 miles on it.

When I bought mine, it had just over 400 miles on it.

It seems the dealer let some jerk drive it for a week before I bought it.

Oh... that was me! ;)

Seriously, it had 11 miles on it when I first took it out.

My truck - an '02 - had about 70 miles on it when I bought it - but it was a dealer trade, and had come from a neighboring town about 30 miles away...

hey, look at it this way, they are helping you break it in, and your warranty starts on the mileage at time of delivery, not at 0.

They should truck it to the dealership. You don't want some ding dong hauling ass in a brand new truck. Mine had 7 miles on it when I bought it. I would make that part of the deal. In the past, my experiences are they truck them in but I would double check your dealership.

Make sure you ask. Mine had 400 miles on it. They brought it in from a dealership 300 miles away. Made me mad, but since it was the last '03 SLT Dually 6spd in western Canada, I took it anyway.

Mine had about 70 miles on it when I picked it up, who knows who drove it or how they drove it. I am not worried about it, I doubt they could hurt it, if that could hurt something then it's pretty fragile.

Coasty nailed it. I do not want some bonehead out tearing up the streets to see what a new Dodge 600 will do in the truck I end up with. I'm kinda stuck in a hard place as I do not have the time to just go order one. I'm beginning to see that a PDI or whatever it's called will add miles but after that I do not want the extra miles.

Yeah, but it's the idea of it all. I'm paying for a brand new vehicle, but I'm getting something with 400 miles on it?? I don't think so. I'm with Coasty, I don't want some ding dong driving MY truck. Of course, I've ordered both of my vehicles, so they came in with like 3/10 of a mile on 'em. The worst part is there's a Mexican ding dong driving it off the line...

I bought a new vehicle once that had . 8 (yes, 8/10's) miles on it. It had lots of problems and I am pretty sure I was the only one to drive it. I'm sure it was just enough miles to run it on the boat, off the boat, on a truck, and off again.

This truck had about 100 miles on it, but I think I put 50 on it myself before I bought it.

It has 16k now (only anther 1/2 million or so to go).

My Rig had 3 Miles on it when i test drove it and a total of 8 miles when i drove over the curb. Send me a PM about your Sammy .

Mine had 21, and that was from Tomeygun having taken it to the Line-X dealer to get that installed. Generally 200 miles is what we consider a used vehicle.

When I pay 40K for a new truck, that means "new". My truck had 9 miles on it. I would not accept a "new" truck with more than 15 or so miles. I want to be the one who breaks this truck in, not some moron who has no intention of buying it. My . 02

You got the mileage like what I'm looking for, I don't think a truck should get any more than a mile or so just moving it around the factory lots and transport area's. How many miles can you really put on a rig in a parking lot anyway?

By the way I sent you a quick PM.
