Just orded a new ram 2500, long bed. I need info as to what brand of 5th wheel hitch to buy and is anyone having problems welding on the new Dodge frame  :-laf :-laf

Just put a Reese 16k slider on my 03 short bed. I thought about drilling, until I looked underneath.

I spot welded myself, no issues. With a short bed, the rear exhaust hanger has to be cut off the frame because a bracket has to go in same area.

With your long bed, should be no problem. I used a stick, but a Mig would probably be easier.

Reese, B&W, PullRite, EasyRider, McCall, TrailAir - there are lots of good hitches available. :)

Most manufacturers have good rail installation kits for the 3Gens.

Ive found a B&W (hideaway style) for a 1 ton dodge, anyone know if it will fit a 3/4 ton? Both trucks are 01 Ive looked on a few sites and the partnumbers are the same but the guy says it wont work???

thanks

Ian

There are several that do not require drilling or welding the frame.

I would go with one of those. (no way would I let anyone drill or weld my frame)

If you go with the REESE no drill mounting brackets (as I did) it will be ALMOST impossible to replace the RR shock without removing the bracket. So, if you are thinking about different shocks, you might want to put them on first.

Mine is a short bed, so I had to go with a slider, but with your long bed, there are a lot to chose from.

There is a TSB on drilling and welding on the frame, if follow the guildlines there is no issue with warrantee on the frame. If there had been a no drill option for the signature series I would have got it but I would not let that sway a decision on which hitch to buy. The advantages on the signature hitch plus having nothing in the bed when the hitch is removed made it a better choice for me.
