i’ve got a 2018 3500 srw limited mega cab 4x4 with aisin and air suspension on order, i’m going to this from a 5.9 06 2500.
my question is what, if anything that i need to inspect or pay special attention to before i take delivery and what mods and or upgrades are or can be done to the 18’s without loosing the warranty?

also one issue i’ve run across that concerns me is the lame acceleration or dead pedal as some refer to it, the pedal commander or bd throttle booster seem to be the go to fix, so will these affect the warranty and if anyone has tried both, which do you prefer and why?

Just learn to roll into the throttle and enjoy the ride. Open the hood to check or change the oil.

I bought the Maxcare 8 year warranty, which I very seldom do.

If you wanted a hot rod, you should have got a V8.

I just purchased a new 5500 in Mar of this year. I pretty much drive it moderately, although I had to learn to drive a stock truck after trading one I added 90HP and 180Lb Ft Tq. It's just fine for me. My main objective was to purchase the most capable towing/hauling machine built for the money. It is that.

IMHO, you shouldn't need to purchase anything for your truck, except maybe accessories. I installed a stainless steel grill/brush guard. At least if I hit a deer, I won't be sitting on the side of the road. Congrats and Good Luck. Be sure to post pics and your driving impressions of your rig.

One more thing: Before you sign the papers, take it for a test drive to make sure you are absolutely happy with it. I didn't hitch a trailer to mine, but I certainly checked acceleration, performance, and function. When I purchased mine, it was with the intention of leaving it entirely stock. This will be the first vehicle I have not (as of now) added any performance enhancements.

Drive it like you stole it right out of the box for the first 1,000 miles. ALWAYS run TH and EB. ALWAYS use fleetGuard, MOPAR and Raycor filters.....ONLY.

NO Mods needed. Good call on rear air ride! Run your tire pressure based on load.

just so i understand, by TH and EB do mean tow/haul and exhaust brake, and why?
also i’ve always used wix filterson my 06, are they not up to par anymore?

Keeping EB on all the time helps keep soot from building up. As it is allways moving the variable vanes.

OEM Extended warranty from Ram, and the costs vary, don’t except the first price.

what about tuners and gauges/monitors, it seems that efi, mme, raceme, stealth, ez link, edge, and bully dog are the main choices but i’m way behind on all these newer trucks?

never was really happy with the isspro gauges and super chip tuner i had on my 06.

Enjoy the truck right out of the box. You WILL void your warranty if adding a tuner.

Not quick enough buy a GM or Ford.

The hp and tq these trucks have pretty much negate the need for programmers, tuners and chips. You could lose your warranty on an expensive truck. My truck has electronic gauges that displays oil temp and pressure, coolant temp, transmission temp, and boost pressure. There are some folks on the TDR that say these are not real gauges and are algorithms. I don't care, if I haven't modified my truck, I believe I can win a warranty case if I relied on the digital gauges for actions I would take. I just happen to have an EGT gauge new in the box that i still haven't decided to use or not. If I used a tuner or chip I would use the EGT, but honestly, I'm happy with the power and torque my truck has. And, I want to keep my warranty on this truck.

Bottom Line: Recommend you keep the truck stock and see how you like it. It might even do pretty good if you want to do a little sled pulling on the weekend. We'll be watching to see how you like it and what you do with it.

When I took delivery of my 2018 truck back in May I specifically asked the sales guy if all of the fluid levels had been checked and, and as you might expect from a sales guy, was told that all had been checked and were OK. Well-- guess what-- the front axle housing was almost a quart low. So. don't trust the dealership on anything and check stuff yourself.

PDI = remove plastic from seats, wash, and add stock number sticker and addendum to the truck.

Done.

you dont need any extra gauges on a stock truck, truck safes itself from abuse.
the rest shows the EVIC.

Mine is (Max care) 7 years/70,000 miles ($100 deductible). I was not offered a max care with zero deductible, so I wasn't aware that was available until I found someone (see above) on TDR who was offered that deal.

.Max care covers almost everything. There is a federal emission warranty and some things are covered for 5 years?. Other things for 8 years.? The max care doesn't cover some of the emissions, I think. (There is an exclusion for the DPF and possibly some other emissions items?
