New truck options

I just traded my 98. 5 24 valve for a '06 mega cab CTD w/auto, leather, rear entertainment, nav/cd/am/fm/mp3.



As usual the dealer knew little about the truck and had just the generic answers for me.



When they were finishing up the paper work they found the truck had the remote start remotes (is that the "keyless entry option ?) and the truck has the Jake Brake installed yet I can find no reference to that option anywhere. There was a box in the truck with the exhaust elbow and other parts in the truck when I demoed the truck and installation instructions in the center console. It appears that it was dealer installed or does the factory install it and leave the extra parts with the truck?



I am really enjoying the truck and I keep finding new gizmos to play with as I learn about the truck. :-laf

There is no factory remote start option that I know of. The factory remotes will lock and unlock the doors, no more. The jake is dealer installed. It can be factory ordered but it comes in a box for the dealer to install regardless.

With the remote keyless entry remote I can press the button twice, the horn honks and the park/fog lights come on and you can hear a pump run and a relay click. 30-40 seconds later the truck starts. You must insert the keys in the ignition and 'turn the key' or the truck will shut off as soon as you move the gear selector.



Is the factory Jake standard now or is it part of an options group?

Both of those (jake brake and remote start) are dealer installed options only. That's pretty bad that your sales guy didn't know they had installed those options. But that's the only way they get put on is in the dealers service bays.
