Hello all,Well It's official i am a diesel owner. On friday the 13th my father-in-law and I flew out to detroit to pick up my new 92 D250 club cab. So far I love it. We had no problems with the 13 hour trip back home. The truck chugged along at 70 the whole way with out a hiccup. With the extra fuel tank we didn't even have to stop for fuel on a 800 mile trip. There are only 2 things wrong with the truck well maybe 3 but one is the issue with whether or not to leave the cap on. Oh back to the problems. One is the heater controls don't light up is this an easy fix?The other is a bigger problem. I have no back up lights. This is a problem with getting an inspection sticker. I have yet to figure out if it's blown bulbs(highly unlikely)or a wiring issue. The previous owner had a 98 NV4500 transmission installed. Is there a provision for back up lights on this transmission?Where should i start looking for this problem?Oh yeah the PO gave me a 2" thick repair manual for ramcharger and W/D pickups. Is this the manual people have been speaking about or is there one specific to the diesel?

As far as the heater light it has a small light bulb that goes into a socket on it. It is just a dash light bulb. Unfortunately you have to remove the wood sim. trim around the gauges to get to it. Not that hard of a job, just time consuming. Sorry, I can't help with the back ups. But a simple test light or new bulb will tell you. Good luck and you will love the truck. Bill

The NV4500 does have backup light switch. It is in the shift tower assy. It points out the driver side of the trans. I do not know if the Getrag and the NV4500 use the same plug for the backups or not.

Congrat's on the new rideOo.

Did you check the fuse block for a blown bu light fuse? I had a problem with a miswired 7 pin trailer plug (previous owner install) that would blow my fuse everytime the trailer was plugged in and I shifted from park to D. Rewired the plug, no more blown fuse. Just a thought.

Jay, things could get quite exciting at the next meeting. ;) :D Have ya tweaked that pump up any more? :D

Chris,

I'd like to have a look at the new ride. Will send you a PM to set something up. The backup light switch and heater control light should be a simple fix. Man, you really made out well with that NV4500 coversion! Oo.
