Just traded in my 96 for a 2004. 5 LWB 2500 4x4 SLT, deep molten red. What a truck!!:) I think it makes the 2nd generation look like experimental test beds for the Cummins. Don't get me wrong, I think the 12 valve is probably one of the best engines ever devised, easy to work on and capable of awesome power and mileage. The new 600 also has incredible potential with the a little tuning I am sure they will be even more economical as people learn what to do with them. Common rail with computer controls can be tuned to perform far better than the mechanical if in the right hands.

Anyhow, I am amazed as how far the trucks have come. The brakes, interior, creature comforts, ride, etc, etc, etc, leave me awed.

Ain't it the truth? Far and above my 97 2500, and much better than my 2001 Ford.

David, wait until this power sucks you in. !

Congrats,

Scott

Congrats. I felt the same way when I got mine.

Totally off topic, do you still have all the mopars in your signature? I had an all original bright hugger orange 70 Cuda with the thick vinyl top in high school. It only had the 340 but it was enough to get me two seperate tickets in one day. Which one of them is faster? The Hemi Cuda or the 440 with the 6 pack?

Coasty,

The cars aren't that fast right now as both are in never ending project status, but have had plenty in the past and the 440+6 is quicker off the line, but the hemi pulls away after about 80 to 100, just incredible, makes the new hemi look a marketing gimmick.

swexlin,

my 96 had more torque but was questionable on how long the rest of the truck would stay attached to the engine. I think they have come a long way on the trucks and should (time will tell) hold up a lot better.

If you are ever in the Green Lane area let me know. Have some Molson Ices to share. ( Hope the moderator does nto nuke me for that).

Mr. Hemi, did you pick that up from Bergey's in Franconia? I checked it out before deciding on the shortbed auto there. If so, watch the service dept if you want tsb's addressed, they're being wankers regarding tsb18-007-04 and my truck. The head tech doesn't feel my truck runs rough enough around 2000rpm to warrant it. We'll see how this plays out. If you find yerself down Plymouth Meeting way, pop in - have a beer dedicated fridge.

Klenger, you better clean that rust bucket up:D ...

I didnt' originally like the garnett red but after seeing a few, I really like that. Make my silver one seem plain. My wife says silver is "luxurious". Whatever, as long it's a diesel... .

Actually, it's deep molten red, which replaced garnett red. I had atlantic blue on my 01. 5, and kind of wish I'd gotten it on the 04. 5. It looks nice with the two-tone. My only other ordering regret is not getting alloy wheels.
