New Truck with salvaged title?????

I'm looking for a new rig. The local Dodge dealer said that having the Megga cab cut and streetched would cause the truck to end up with a salvaged title. I don't know if this is true and I don't plan on spending the extra money on it, but I thought "IF" it's true others should know about it before committing to having it done.

Thats the first Ive heard of a salvage title. I wouldnt think you could go down to one of the dealerships that carry the conversions and finance one if it had a salvage title. Last I heard (never looked into it) was that you cant finance a vehicle with a salvage title, but Ive never tried so dont know.

Insurance companies and DMV are the only people who will turn a title to salvaged. If you totaled you truck, rollover or something, and you fix it without your insurance company's help your title will stay cleen. It also won't show up on carfax in most cases.

I had a car once totaled out by the ins company, They paid me out, I kept it, drove it a few more years and sold it... Guess what clear TITLE hehe So much for that ... ...





I think that dealer was just trying to scare you. IE Keep you at there dealership. That would mean anybody who adds side steps is going to have a salvage title, or installs a service body on the back..... I bet the dealerships who have the Long bed Mega finance the whole modification into the truck.

There is no fact to this... . we stretched the frame of a 91 or 92 and had no problems with this and we just did a Navstar truck by 52" with no problems...

On the truck we had it inspected and the annual done after we were done and no one questioned the quality or what we had done...

as soon as I get pictures of it or better yet next time you drive by the house just look for the shinny new truck sittin in the drive way You wont miss it .
