Well probably the biggest response you'll get on this thread regarding major changes is going to be the lift pump problems. They are notorious for failure on the 24 valvers and I guess most everyone has to replace it sooner or later. Also, you won't have the dowel pin problems on the 24 valve trucks. I've also heard that the 12 valve models get a litter better mileage than the 24 valve trucks but I don't have any info to back that up. From what I have seen, power is cheaper on the 12 valve trucks for whatever reason also. But you do get a little boost with the 24 valve models, they're good for 20 to 30 more horsepower.
Someone add to this, I'm sure there's more out there than this.
