Yep, I've had a belt squeak problem on and off for the last 3 months, and posted about it a while back. Badunit replied with the information about the tsb which turned out to be my problem. It's interesting to see that nobody else has had the problem with the belt squeal. My bracket is no more cracked than the one in Casey's picture. I am still waiting for the dealer to get all the parts together to fix it, and still not driving it due to the NASTY belt squeal that I am getting.

Checked mine last night--sure enough, the crack is there. I'll have to call the dealer this morning to schedule replacement, along with a cracked cab roof clearance light full of water.

Checked mine, and had no cracks at all, with 4500 miles. I guess I wait for the recall, if they decide to do that.

I'd noticed a 1/2" crack in the front bend on mine a little while back and was keeping an eye on it. The day before yesterday I noticed the rear bend was cracked too and it was so long I couldn't see the end of it. I can't believe I missed it before but maybe I did. I removed the bracket to see how bad it was and found the rear crack to be 1-1/2" long, headed toward the bottom of the bracket. I can easily flex the bracket with my hands enough to get the crack to open up. My dealer won't have the parts until probably next week and I'm planning a long trip this weekend so I'm going to see if I can get it welded.

Well I guess it is finally time to get to the dealer I have small cracks all over the place looks a little like lightning... I defiantly think it will turn into a recall the new bracket looks way stronger looking at the old one makes me think "what were they thinking" the old bracket looks way under engineered.

Looks like DC went to Home Depot and got a good deal on door hinges to use as templates to make these brackets! Looked at mine this morning and it's cracked too. The outside rear part of the bend has a barely visible 1" crack and the inside front part of the bend looks like it has a chunk of metal missing from it.

just looked at mine, serial number = 57013271 (darn!).

I see no cracks, but it does look out of place conpaired to the cast piece.

I will see what my service manager says about it.

Production switched over to the cast iron piece in mid February. Any model built subsequent to this will have the new and improved bracket.

Took mine in to the local dealer this morning and showed them the TSB#. Boy were they upset that I had this information - they said that it was illegal because it was copyrighted! They said that they will complain to DC! Whatever...

Anyhow after all this drama, the shop foreman also had a hard time finding the cracks, but once I showed him in the right light and flexed the bracket a bit it was a no brainer and they will order the new cast bracket.

Don't ya get just a little bit suspicious when they don't appreciate an educated consumer? Heaven forbid that the customer would have access to information that would make it more difficult for the dealer to bullsh*t the customer. I wouldn't trust a dealer like that. I want one that will work with me to make me satisfied with the product.

That's the craziest thing I ever heard:p .

just got off the phone with dealer, knew nothing about the TSB,go figure. but after explaining it to him what the problem was he ordered the parts:D

I just checked mine. It is cracked I just got the truck 5-17-03. 1200 miles and cracked about 1/2 inch on each side of the bracket. From the rust I would say it was cracked when I bought it. The other thing is it seems that I hear a high pitched whine from the rear of the truck. Oh no not the rearend TSB too.

My truck seems to be an early 03 that has hung around more than it's fair share of lots. :( :(

I was talking about the oil level and type. If my dealer has had this truck on the lot and hasn't fixed the bracket, how much else hasn't been checked?

I called my dealer to tell them I had the crack. They didn't know about the TSB either but took my word for actually having the crack , looked up the TSB and ordered all the parts so I did not have to go in more than once. Thanks Bellevue Dodge!

Mine's cracked too

After catching up on some TDR I found mine, about 1/2" on the forward side and a little shorter on the opposite side.

Brackets are on national BO, at least the dealer took my word on the crack and saved me an "inspection trip". They'll call me when it comes in- may have to weld it before the next long trip- have any actually broke in two and left the alternator flapping?

At least I can get the C02 and bracket at the same time. My clutch disc is quiet, anything else to look for?
