I installed a Super B Special along with the BD exhaust manifold on my truck this weekend. Now I still haven't been able to drive the 100 miles BD wants for break in so I haven't been able to get on the truck but I have a few questions. I understand my cruising EGT's are going to be a bit higher with the B than the HX35 as the turbine and housing are bigger... . 650* vs. 750* but my WOT EGT's haven't dropped as I was expecting. At 3/4 throttle I am still seeing 1300* + while on flat ground and an empty truck? I need to retune my AFC but that shouldn't be effecting this as it's out of the way by now as the boost gauge was showing 40psi. I have 7x14 CPP injectors, 18* of timing and a 0 plate that is in the middle or slightly back from middle and a 4K GSK. Is it a tuning thing, is it normal? Is it my injectors and to much fuel? It definitely pulls harder but it's not cleaning up the smoke like I thought either. Should I wait for the breakin to be done and give her WOT and see what it does or am I just not used to this set-up and worrying about nothing?

I did some more driving today. I noticed that at part throttle when coming onto the highway from the ramp when the converter locks it will bark the turbo... if I am higher in the RPM range it won't or just barely in the throttle it won't. I also tightened up the starwheel here at work so it's halfway in the plug... I'll see how it is on the ride home. I wanted to pull the AFC housing and set it with compressed air but this will work until I have time to pull the housing.

the super B special is made for 550-625 horses on fuel only. that much power with one turbo will equal slow spooling, but it is designed to push 80 pounds of air per minute so most likely its not an issue of too much fuel, and you'll just have to play with the tuning until you find the sweet spot. just make sure its not something stupid first like the EGT probe touching the manifold.

I will check that tonight... . I don't think anything is wrong other than I'm not used to this set-up yet and need to do some tuning but I'll check the pyro since it's in a new manifold too.

Cam is in the works and next on the list when the budget allows. With those injectors and the HX35 it dynoed at 383hp/1022tq. I am hoping to see 450+ with this turbo. My goal is to be in the 12's on fuel only.

Did you notice a significant power improvement with the new turbo? The stocker would be really restrictive at your fueling level. Should easily be over 400 just by changing the turbo.

As for the barking a cam would fix that, pretty normal thing for a rather large single on an auto truck with the stock cam & head.

How do you like the CPP injectors? Was thinking about getting a set of those.

There is a big difference in power. It comes on smoother and pulls a TON more now. i can really feel it. Pat @ BD told me the same about the barking with the large single and said it isn't a huge deal with it under boost.

The CPP injectors... . they are nice but a little dirty. I knew that going in because the spray angle is off due to them being SAC 7 hole for a 12 valve. They do make some power and my mileage stayed the same with these vs. the 370's that they replaced... . so more power and the same mileage... . I'll take it.

Here is a question. In talking with Pat @ BD 42 psi is the "max" efficient boost on the map for the special..... so since I can touch 45-47psi... it's not that much out of the map but if I was to adjust the gate to open a bit sooner would I be able to bleed some of that pressure off and reduce max boost or will it stay the same because the volume of air pushing through is the boost pressure? i know I could cut back some fuel and that would reduce boost and I might to keep things in the efficiency range.
