Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) new turbo

i am waiting for my new to me turbo to get here so i can put it on. for those of you that have or have had a standard j. r adkins hx55 how did you like it? i know this turbo is tough and that was the reason i bought it over an hx40. will i even be able to spool this turbo with the fueling i have? i have a few more bombs at the house to install yet but wanted a bigger turbo before i did them. thanks

I think you will like that turbo just fine. (As soon as Dave gets it mailed out ) Might be a little laggy w/ the 5 spd but I think you will be allright. What clutch are you running? Good luck w/ the turbo.

I hope you like some lag, I have JR'S Lil 55 and it's kinda laggy about 1600-1700 before it starts to spool, but it is a real good sled pulling turbo. (IMO) Turbo seems to be tough as nails, I put it through some abuse.

i have a con o for the time being. i will be getting a dd clutch very soon. im waiting to close on my house (7-10 days) then ill buy the clutch. i cant wait to get the turbo in and drive it for the first time Oo. after the clutch push the fuel plate foward. will i notice a power increase over the dodgezilla i had before or do i need more fuel first? this is turing out to be a good week so far

i got the turbo on tuesday. i put it on with only a couple of problems thanks to the post office. when i got the turbo the box looked like it had been run over with a truck a few times. i finally got it on and took it for a drive. wow when this thing lights it lights. the first 5 or so pounds of boost takes the longest. when you get to 5psi or more look out 5psi to 44psi in a flash. this turbo is awesome. it sounds sweeet when it spools hard. thanks to dlange for the turbo and j. r adkins for making one sweet charger. richard

So can you tell a big difference between the DZ and the 55 horsepower wise? :-laf Do you have anything done to your head yet? Or have I already asked that?

no i dont have anything done to the head yet. im still waiting to close on my house. now they say the 11th of nov. after i close i am going to get studs for now and a new clutch. the 55 is sweeeeeet. the power is awesome over the dz. the dz always made boost. the 55 takes a second or two but when boost hits hang on. when it gets to about 5psi the turbo takes off and goes right to about 44psi. i stopped at 44psi. i just cant say enough about this turbo. i thought it would be a lag pig but for the size of the turbo is spools pretty fast. its not dz fast but its not bad at all. richard
