A buddy of mine has invented a new electric brake contol system. It is a box that mounts on the trailer and it has a pendulum in it that works the brakes. It has adjustable settings on it for the load you have on. No boxes in the truck, just plug the trailer plug into it and then plug the lead coming out of the box into your truck. It will help take the jerk out of your brakes and the harder you push on the brakes the more power is given to the trailer. He is going to give me one to try out. So far everyone who has tried one loved it. I'll let you know how I like it when I put it to 20,000 lb. test.

That's not new. Try backing that trailer up a ramp.

There already is a similar unit out there. It is designed for vehicles towed behind RV's. Check it out... www.brakebuddy.com

This is not really the same thing. It also doesen't activate until you push on the brake pedal. Trust me this thing will be great if you have electric brakes. They have them designed and are testing. They are just waiting for all the liability stuff to get finalized. I will be getting a test one soon and I'll tell you how it works. They are also working on a adjustment thing that goes on your keychain like a keyless entry to adjust it if you want more or less. If I didn't trust the unit you think I would put 30,000lbs. behind it and $100,000 worth of cattle on it.

Just wondering what advantage this would have over the pedulum controllers that mount in the cab and are adjustable and are right at hand if you need to adjust them?

We get to soon old and to late smart. .

I wonder if it is allowed under FMVSS. There is a reason that surge brakes are no longer being allowed on vehicles over 10K lbs. Along with vaccuum over hydraulic and air over hydraulic.

I have a cheap Kelsey-Hayes controller that has a pendulum. Why is it better to put the pendulum on the trailer?
BTW- the pendulum idea works, but it seems to exhibit positive feedback as you might expect. These things usually exhibit a long lag in the response which helps.
