Cummins names and signs.

Going to College Station on friday to pick up a new to me tractor. My old Ford 861 needs a new clutch and I just cant justify spending the money to fix it, she is just too old.

Picked up this 1995 231. Not going to know how to act with a tractor that has power steering. The old Ford has paid for itself many times over, its going to be hard to get rid of it, she feels like part of the family.

Nice tractor, is it a 3cyl. Perkins diesel powered? The Fords are unique in the fact they are all very simular in design.

Yep, I know what you mean about a tractor being a part of the family and driving tractor without power steering. You could keep the old Ford and fix it up to take to old tractor shows and as a reminder of "the good ol' days".

I have an old B. F. Avery R/MM BF tractor in my shop that my father bought new in 1950 (it's also like part of the family) that still runs good and I'm gradually cleaning and getting ready for some local old tractor shows this summer. It has no power steering either, but does have electric start (6-volt that I changed to 12-volt), live hydraulic system, 540 RPM transmission driven PTO, belt pulley, and a 3-point hitch... modern options for 1950. :-laf

The tractor does have a 3cyl Perkins. I would love to keep the old tractor and rebuilt it, but finding the time is the problem. Between work, kids and everything else I am involved in just don't know where I could find the time.

I swore I would never sell that tractor, who knows, I may stash it at my moms, and one day it may re-appear back at home. Have to keep it out of site of my wife.
