New VA box & map sensor question

Buddy just brought by his 2000 5speed. He got the new generation VA box, which plugs in like the old one, but this new one has a separate wire and plug, that the instructions say plugs into the MAP sensor receptacle. Well, according the instructions, we think we're looking at the map sensor plug, but his new plug is a different shape than the factory plug... . assuming we are in fact looking at the MAP sensor: just behind n above the fuel filter canister, plugging into the side of the head (?).



Anyone run into this problem? Are we missing something, or what?

Rogue, some of the '00 models have the same map plug the '98 and '99's do. It is triangle shaped three pin. Some of the '00 and all the '01 models have the flat three pin plugs. It sounds like he needs to send it back for the correct plugs. Tell the place he got it from what style plug he has and you should be in good shape. When you get it working let us all know what you guys think about it.

Thanks LSMITH! I was guessing this was the case, but I haven't spent a lot of time on this board the last few months and haven't kept up with the BOMBing world.



I was shocked to find out he only paid $400 and change of some sort for this box, while I paid like $750 18 mos ago for my older one. Bet I couldn't even give mine away now... .....
