Just take the carpet out and have some spray in bedliner put in it. Vynil mats trap to much moisture and cause your cab to rust.

That is a fantastic idea. Probably cheaper than the vinyl anyway. I have some roll-in bedliner on the floor of my 1972 Blazer, and it is great. I didn't think of it for my Dodge.

I replaced my carpet with the vinyl from the site crabman listed. It is very high quality, anf fit very well.

I completely stripped the interior, including headliner, and started with a thick coat of herculiner (1/8") on everything. I filled the tunnel that runs along the floor, and the one on the rear bulkhead, with urethane foam insulation.

Next I covered the interior with sound insulation, (lead based) 2 layers thick. The doors were insulated with a combination of spray sound proofing and lead sheet.

All of this made a huge difference and makes all of the stereo upgrades more enjoyable!!

How hard is it to take out the seats and old carpet? I have the six speed... how hard is that mini console around the shifter to take out?

It is very simple, it just takes time. There are screws under the shifter boot, and under the rubber inserts in the cup holders, etc.

The carpet just pulls out, after removing the seats, shifter, plastic door threshold, etc.

You will be shocked(maybe not!!!) at how little sound insulation is installed by the factory.

My truck has spent almost half its life in a place that receives approx 200" precip a year, and you won't find any rust under the vinyl flooring!!!

You probably don't track mud nor salt from the roads into your truck. I on the other hand take my trucks places most guys wouldn't take jeeps. Our state DOT is also dead set on spraying caustic chemicals on the roads to get rid of the ice, and it plays hell with the floor boards.
