My head gasket was starting to slowly leak out of a water jacket and I was already on borrowed time with my vp-44 and signs that it was giving me. I go to Source Automotive -- Main I had my head O-ringed and studs put in. went from 100hp jammers to EDM Mach 4's. the shop put on a donaldson fuel/water seperator filter between the tank and my fass pump. I still use the factory filter as well. (this done due to crap always in my stock filter housing) better cheaper filtering done. same time drop tank check it and install vulcan big draw-straw. ( now my fass is quieter). valve-train was kept the same except Top hat valve seals were used (later for twins). the truck is great now I have 500 miles on the truck and I'm getting better MPG and less smoke the Mach 4's are pullers the pull through I feel my throttle all the way.

my truck would smoke crazy on any setting on the smarty. now only if its sw7 or sw9 and I hammer it. my truck isnt as loud and knocky. it idles smooth. So I hope this helps others out there on decisions. I have always went to Rip at sourceautomotive they have always been great to me and quick and very knowledgeable. (next is 3600 DDsbc my FE is slipping)

I guess the big change that I have felt and seen is before on the old vp, I would have a crazy lope at idle taking off in gear its not nearly as bad and the amount of smoke before was terrible. I can still smoke crazy now but at least I have to floor it now. what is wierd to me before my FE clutch would slip in 5th gear when I would shift fast and hammer it and smoke everywhere and total loss of power now my clutch isnt slipping yet. and less smoke. So I'm wondering if its possible that my old vp was releasing more fuel than I thought and was making more smoke and making my clutch slip. I dont know. the new Mach 4's are great with my HTB2 62/14 I havent really had egt. . issues they get up to 1000 but quickly go down. and that was at 3500 to 4000 elevation. I am totally happy with sourceautomotives work in the world that we all live in there are alot of people with bad service and just want to put the green in their own pockets. but I have never felt that from them. they have a rep a good one at that. soon I will be putting on the twins from rip's shop, and cant wait.
