I put a Glacier Diesel Walbro pump on last spring. A few weeks ago the thing started making a terrible noise and vibrating when you put your hand on it. I still get good pressure although the pressure gauge does a little bit of a dance. I called Richard yesterday and he was going to warrenty it. However, I bought it serveral months before I got around to installing it, so it's over a year from purchase, therefore no warrenty. I'm not too happy about this. I thought I was getting a performance pump that was supposed to surpass what the stock pump can do. Well the stock pump still works. Any suggestions for replacement or just suck it up and get another Walbro? I feel like I'm suck with another Walbro since the wiring and fuel lines already set up for it. Richard offered me a fair price on a new pump and it is very unliked a new pump will fail again as the Walbro is supposed to be a good pump (anything can break). But if there is another option I might consider it.

(You know, I just occurred to me. I replied to a post a few days ago about putting in the Walbro to have something more reliable that the stock pump. I guess I angered the fuel pump gods. )

Do you have a pre filter before the pump? If so, and I would guess you do you can figure it was a bad pump from the start. Every now and then you get a dud. I would go ahead and install a new walbro, It will be an easy install and should last.

You know, I had similar noises and erratic fuel pressure like you described. My fuel pressure would bounce around between 15 and 22 psi. I called Richard and he said it sounded like I was losing my pump. I've had my system for about 1 1/2 years. But, I looked at my records and noticed I hadn't changed my factory fuel filter in approx. 10,000 miles or the pre-filter since original install. Well, I changed both and my fuel pressure is rock steady at 21 psi and all the odd noises are gone. I even bought a new pump, oh well. I'll keep it for a spare... .

If you want to change the whole thing out Air Dog still has a sale on its AD100 and AD150 pumps!! Only $499 for either one. Just my . 02Oo.

Oh, and a 6 year warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been on the truck for about 10K miles. It has the pre-filter that came with it. I would think a dirty filter would effect pressure but not cause the noise I'm hearing, You can easily hear it over the running engine. I'll check the filters just to be sure.

change the pre filter!

mine would scream when the pre filter was dirty! it was loud, I could hear it in the cab over straight piped stacks!

Update:

I checked the inline pre-filter and it was clean as a whistle. The primary (stock) filter was also fine.

Richard at GDP and I emailed back and forth a bit and he ended up covering the pump under warrenty since it was on the truck less than a year and with only about 10K miles on it. So a big A+ for customer service on his part. I thought that was extremely nice to warrenty it since it is technically out of warrenty by dates.
