I took my truck into the dealer to have them fix my A/C, I also had them fix my key since it won't unlock the truck consistently, I also noticed a little crusty stuff on the A/C compressor, so I told them to check it out.

Well it turns out the little crust on my A/C compressor is dried up coolant that has been leaking from my water pump. So they had to change the water pump out, this is the first time I have ever heard of a water pump going out at only 25K miles, it never over heated, it is always pegged a 200.

Also wierd is that the fan is not connected to the water pump, the water pump is very small and is on its own with its own pulley.

... and very easy to replace. somethings go out. water pump might have been made on a friday at 4:40pm. You never know.

Me Too!!

I just had my water pump replaced at 14,000 miles!!!!!!! I did a search on this site and a few techs replied that they have done more water pumps on 3rd gens than any other !!! Mine was replaced on my 06. I just happened to notice I had a small puddle of coolant on the ground as soon as I turned the truck off... Took pictures and took the truck in. . New pump!!

My truck runs on the 200 most of the time but I have got it up to 210 when I am pulling hard on a fairly steep grade w/ trailer... Oo.

I was going to say I have heard of a couple 06 water pumps going. My truck was built one year before roper's, but when I pull it into the garage I smell antifreeze, but the bottle level never changes. Maybe I need to look under there.

Tow Pro... NO!!!!!! LOLOLOLOL I just happened to see a small amount of coolant on the inside passenger tire in Early May... Followed it up all the way to the overflow bottle. I was getting some coolant not from the clamps, but actually out the top nipple!! It bugged me more than anything and after 3 trips to the dealer and a million tests we ruled out anything serious... So I stuffed a piece of paper towel in the rubber part of the nipple and now I never know if it does it!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL

I have a 2003 and replaced the water pump at 140k. There was no hint of coolant from the weep hole. The seal failed all at once. Luckily, my local Cummins distributor had the pump on the shelf. Took about 15 minutes to change. Remove the belt, take out two bolts and pull the pump off. Reverse the procedure to install the new one. I was going to change the pump at 100k just because, but was lazy and did not do it until the part failed.

I'm just under 95,000 right now. Just before 100K, I'm going flush the cooling system and refill it with G-05. At the same time, I'm planning to replace the pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, and radiator cap.

My pump started leaking a significant amount of water last night. Have 67k on the odometer. After calling Cummins and several Dodge dealers I finally found one in stock at Fullerton Dodge. Got price quotes ranging from $195 to $273. Fortunately, Fullerton Dodge's was the cheapest. I was surprised how expensive these little buggers are.

Just finished replacing water pump. The original was shot. Had about 1/8" play in the impeller shaft and the edge of the blades had a mirror finish with burrs on the ends. Seems like maybe the play in the shaft caused it to hit the inside of the water jacket. Didn't realize it until I had the new one on so couldn't examine inside. One would think you should have been able to hear the blades hitting but never noticed it. Hmmm. Oh well. Good for another trip to Utah on Friday.

How Do I get the water pump off!

I love my 2003 3500! It has 140,000 on it and I am going to drive it to 250,000! The water pump just gave up! And I an looking for an exploded view to help me?

I just put on the lift pump that the dodge ******* said I could not get! I do love getting around them!Oo.
