I need some advice from guys with aftermarket wheels. I'm pricing out Eagle Alloys series 058's 16x7 wheels when at one place I can get 16x8's for $20 cheaper. Does anyone else run 16x8's with any problems or benefits? Also I'm going to get new rubber put on the wheels. I drive on a lot of gravel roads and tow a lot. I had some Michelin ltx a/t's but the price has gone up too much. I was looking at some TOYO M-55's. Some guys up here get decent milage out of them and are pleased with the traction. Any advice or other suggestion's would be greatly appreciated.

New tailpipe and guages on the way.

Thanks

Toyo tires

Take this old news with a grain of salt but . . I had some Toyo's on my 86 Laser XE once. They wore good but traction really sucked (ESPECIALLY ON SNOW). Rubber compound was too hard. Was so bad I had to take them off the front and put'em in back. Eventually I had to replace them because of sidewall cracking but they were on the back a long time. I suppose they've improved by now but who really knows?

I have the Alcoa 16x7s and even after the recall on them the 16x8s were not available. I would go with the 16x8s if I were you. My next set of tires will be at the maximum-minimum for a 7" wheel.

CR;

I recently changed from a set of monster 16. 5 x 10" rims and wheels to the Eagle alloys. I don't know the exact model # but they are similar to the AR "Outlaw" wheels with the holes and fake rivets. I put 16x265 Dunlop radial Rovers on and rewally like them. I did a long (for me) haul with a loaded horse trailer from Maine to Virginia and back and found them to be stable and smooth - good tracking and no complaints, quiet, too. Ran into a big rain event in Conn. on I95 and had no problems at all keeping straight with the tractor trailers and wind. I've also run in a fair amount of snow and slop unloaded and haven't had any probs. So, I guess i'd recommend this combo. Price was around $850 from Tire Warehouse mounted & balanced.
