Low boost

New rig gauge questions

I am a new owner of a Dodge Ram 2003. I am not a mechanic but would like to learn as much as I can about my truck.

I have some dumb questions, but here goes. Also this is my first post on TDR.

I know there is a 12 and a 24 valve engine also a common rail engine. How do I know which one I have?

What my engine displacement?

How many cylinders?

System Voltage?

Horsepower?

Injection Pump Type?

I have a manual 5 speed Trans. I read a thread full of arguments for each so no need to add yours here.

Thanks for your knowledge and i'll have many more stupid Questions to come.

welcome to the TDR, the toughest place on your wallet :D Lots of good info here but don't believe everything you hear

1. 24 valve HPCR High pressure Common Rail

2. 5. 9L of diesel enjoyment :D

3. I-6

4. 12vdc

5. Anyone? 2003 have an HO or was that just 2004/2004. 5?

6. CP3? Don't know for sure

The only stupid question is the one that gets you stranded because you didn't ask

First, welcome.

JApol did a pretty good job of answering your questions.

HP-Look on the right side of your engine, there is a sticker with all of the pertinent info there... with the 5-speed, I beleive it to be a Standard output engine, not the High Output Version.

Injection pump is definately a CP3.

BTW, there are no stupid questions if you do not know the answer.

5. Anyone? 2003 have an HO or was that just 2004/2004. 5? There were HO's only with the 6spd until 1 jan 2003 and then they were '03. 5 and they were available with the auto and 6spd.

if you have the 5spd, you have 250hp/460tq.

6. CP3 it isn't exactly an injection pump like the older trucks, it doesn't control anything other than pressure

The only stupid question is the one that gets you stranded because you didn't ask

JApol is right, I just added a little.
