Thanks, TDR Staff

Just bought a 2004 3500 Ctd Quad cab!!!!

New 2500 CTD

New guy, here, just bought my first diesel ('05 Quad Cab 3500 SRW). Will be used mainly as a tow rig for my jeep. I'm not looking for modify the truck a lot, but would like to open it up a little bit to squeeze some more power out of it. I've searched around this forum and now am thoroughly overwhelmed

Can somebody point me in the right direction. I'm essentially looking for a good combo of basic mods that won't affect driveablility, won't break the bank too bad, and will just make towing over passes that much easier.

Any help would be appreciated. I was hoping to find a "dumb newbie FAQ" on diesel mods somewhere.

I'm also looking for links to good places to buy goodies for the truck.

Thanks.

Welcome to the TDR! :)

There are more than what is listed here, but it will get you started.

Before adding any fuel you will want to get some gauges. Pyrometer (to watch exhaust gas temps, a. k. a EGTs), turbo boost gauge, and a transmission temp gauge, if you have an auto, and maybe a fuel pressure gauge.

After the gauges, a fueling box would be your next move.

I would suggest posting this thread in the 3rd gen section. Should get more responses that way.

Nice looking TJ. I just got rid of my YJ that I built and am currently looking for my next Jeep. Look me up if you ever get out to Colorado for some wheeling.

More ump, well do what I am planning on doing, go mad get a catcher or go with Edge. I really like the Edge but I have the bug and it is killing me I want more and the catcher works better with injectors.

I do agree with bmoellor guages first then bomb away, I have to warn you though, bombing is like pringles once you start you can't stop.

no catcher available for his 3rd gen. software is much more difficult to crack from what i have heard.

injectors are more expensive too.

I agree with the above posts, get gauges first, then go to a box. You will get a good bit of power.

Be careful, the transmission will be expensive to build, so if you want to stay on a low budget, keep your performance mods reasonable. :-laf

As stated above, move to the third gen forum. Those guys can help you the most and many tried just about every performance mod on the market. I'm just a goofy vp44 guy.
