Guys,

I'm finally getting around to my gauge installs. Westach EGT/Boost combo, 30 PSI fuel pressure and Dual temps (one to transmission).

The fuel pressure works great hung via the extension hose off the schraeder valve. woo hoo. I started getting 216 codes last week (reason I finally got off my behind and did my installs. ) At ide I'm at 12 PSI, so I'll be watching this closely.

For Boost, I am using the bolt provided by Geno's in the 3rd from firewall closest to valve cover position.

For Pyro, I tapped my Ex Manifold.

The BOOST and EGT at idle are very low. Boost doesn't register on 30 PSI on Pyro is only 300 deg F at idle. I expected both of these to register higher at idle.

My question: At idle, what should my boost register? what should pyro register?

For clarity, I'm stock today.

130,000 on original lift pump fixing to buy the Vulcan relocate kit...

At idle boost is 0 and EGT is 250 or lower.

Boost won't come up until you are into the throttle under load. You may be able to deflect the needle if you rev it to 2500 no-load.

Thats about right.

My boost will usually bounce between 0 and 1 at idle, depending on the weather.

If I idle my truck long enough ( acouple of minutes) and again depending on the weather my EGT can get as low as 222degs, and that is after running down the road. I always idle to below 300 before shutting down ( u know to do that right?)

Where did you tap for the EGT probe? Pre or Post turbo?

I wouldnt worry about either reading, I would however watch the Fuel Pressure. What is the Fuel Pressure while running down the road? Idle fuel pressure is not that big of an indicator of a problem, but dropping low while driving is. With the code are u ahving any other problems ( dead pedal, drop in milage, hard starting while hot etc)? All or some of these point to a failing injection pump.

Hope this helps alittle,

J-

ps I see that u have 130K on the orginal LP but u are just installing gauages? I dropped 4 lift pumps and a injection pump in 45K! U may have some problems with the injection pump!

Woo hoo! Then I may have my gauges hooked up right!

Pyro is pre-turbo.

I didn't know about the 300 deg F before shutdown. I knew that I was supposed to allow it to cool, but I didn't know to what point. Prior to today, I didn't have a gauge to help recognize how hot it was.

I was trying to make sure I had my gauges in correctly before I took my test drive. I had big problem last week with spitting/sputtering fuel delivery. I almost didn't make it home. When I checked my fuel filter element, it was in terrible shape. I changed it and cleared my codes. I then figured to get my FP gauge installed so that I could closely monitor the situation.

So, now armed with this info, I'll go home and take it for a spin.

By the way, this was my first attempt at gauge install. You guys (and Geno's) provided so much help, that I was able to get the gauges installed.

Yep... I know the IP may be an issue. To this point, the truck has never given even a hint of an issue. I knew about the IP and LP issues from the TBD and discussion boards. I bought the guages 50K miles ago. I just now made it a priority. We'll just have to see.

Thanks again for your feedback.

:--) Well they are in now that's a good thing. Like mentioned before do let it cool to atleast 300* before shutdown.
