I have been browsing these forums for some time now, recently became a TDR member when I bought my truck last week. Truck is a 2001 2500 CTD QCab ShortBox 4x4 Auto. Pics are in my gallery.

Questions are how can I tell what has been modified on it in the past, I know that there was at least some sort of box on it as there is velcro on the top of the plastic box under the hood on the drivers side fender. It has been straight piped. Not sure if they replaced anything other than removing muffler and resonator. Not sure what the stock exhaust looks like. Also want to know if the 100,000 mile warranty has been voided or not, is there any way to tell? There are no guages, and doesn't appear to ever have had them. So I don't think it was modded too much. Truck has 50k miles on it and shifts and runs GREAT!!! Truck came from an auction so I don't know who owned it previously.

Right now I plan on adding gauges first, fuel press, egt, boost, and transmission temp. Then putting on an edze EZ and see where it goes from there.

TIA for any help. And BTW these forums are GREAT!!!! Tons of info!!!!!

WEll good job on your purchase... ... ... . As far as how to tell what mods have or had been done??? If just something like an EZ was hooked up to my knowledge there is no way to tell... ... . But if a comp box was hooked up your pump wire should be pierced and you may have to look closely. Look for a small cut on the pump wire insulation. As for which wire... . I have no idea. I am sure some one will chime in and correct me and possible give you more info. Mind you now, I have a 99' with an EZ and DD1's, so not an expert. When I bought my truck I also had some velcro on the fuse box under the head. I bought it used with 87k miles on it from a used truck dealer. I do believe the previous owner thought he was starting to have transmission problems and that is why he traded it in. The problem with the transmission was the Torque Converter hunting issue that some many of us have experienced. I ended up with 198k miles out of the stock transmission before I finally had to have a DTT, and that was with running an EZ. But anyway, congratulations and happy dieseling.
