Hi, I just joined TDR recently and im glad i found this site . I don,t have a diesel yet but im on a mission to get one i have wanted a Dodge td for a wile and now im ready to step up to some diesel power . I been recearching trying to find my ideal truck right now i drive a 94 bronco auto with a 351 and its not the ideal truck for towing my boat . I live in Nor Cal and there some steep hills that almost kill my truck wile towing . I would like to get a 24 valve extra cab 4x4 but im torn between manual or autotrans I think i would be better off buying a manual due to being stronger and lasting longer i have,nt had good luck with autos$$$$ . But everybody i talk to about it tell me that i will get sick of shifting all the time what do you guys think? One last thing im wondering what kind of mileage should i worry about i want to get one with 75,000 or under are there things that go out after a certant amount of miles . Thanks for reading i got a little carried away. Bkenny

I got an auto because the price was right and I had looked for a long time. All I can say is if you get the bombing bug and become power hungry the trannys is gona slip and not last long. This can be fixed with $$$ and you will be real happy, but like I say you need the $$$. If you get a stick shift the clutch will only hold a certain amount of power before it slips, but that can be fixed with an after marked clutch and not much $$$ compared to auto. Keep looking and welcome to the TDR.
