Crossing into Canada

I am new to TDR and to towing and am planning on purchasing a 32' fifth wheel soon. I have been getting my truck ready and reading alot of great advice, but I still have a few questions. I am stock now and do not plan on bombing it, yet... ? What gauges make sense for the 6-speed 04. 5 3500? Especially when towing. I plan to add a PacBrake and a BrakeSmart controller.

I have the same setup as you and went with and EGT and boost gague. I didnt see any sense in a trans temp for the six speed.

For a 3rd Gen? :-laf

I haven't seen any 2" gauges that read that high...

Do the 3rd gens not have the same lift pump that the 2nd gens have? I know the injector pump is much different (HPCR) but thought they still used the same lift pump as before.

I don't read a lot into the 3rd gens so I'd be interested to know if there's a difference.

Sandy,

My pal Casey got one of the SRT10 a pillar gauge pods from Geno's and put the Westach combo gauge in it. Looks nice, has the grab handle, and fits like the stock cover.

I know I need the pryo and was definitely considering the SRT-10 holder, but it sounds like the boost gauge may be of some value, so I have been considering the triple dash mount unit from Geno's - but what do I do with the third whole??? I know that the trans temp is no needed.

A buddy of mine has the Westach combo gauge and I find it hard to read - the Di-Pricols look very sharp, so I have been leaning toward them.

The CP3 injection pump needs cooled and lubricated just like the old VP44 pumps.

The 3rd gens do have a lift pump, and it's not much better than the 2nd gen lift pumps.

I would suggest a Fuel presure gauge to keep any break downs to a minimum.

Even though you are not planning on Bombing I would highly recommend ditching stock exhaust ( muffler and ca*) this alone can drop EGTs 200-300 degrees and that will be helpful when towing

I have essentially the same truck. Went with a SRT-10 pillar and a column nount by autometer. Pictures are in my readers rig gallery. I have been happy with the setup so far. I also have day/hight pix if you want to see how the DiPricols look.

If you are going to install an ebrake, I would highly recommend the 3rd guage be a pressure guage to measure back pressure that the ebrake will generate. Your engine has a 60# pressure limit. I always set my brake to generate 50# at 2700-2800 rpm. Without the pressure guage, sometimes it is hard to tell how well it is working for you... ... ... ... mi dos centavos

I installed a BD X-Monitor (pyrometer & boost) on the A pillar, just above the dash board. Works well. Doesn't take up much room and is easy to read. Joe.
