Hello, Just signed up after reading my neighbor's TDR. I'm new to the diesel game, previous 454 owner. Just a quick note to say what a great bunch of people there are out there in TDR Land!! By the way I've been reading about the so-called KDP, and should I be worried about it. Just had the valve adj. at a Cummins service center and they didn't mention anything about it? :D

Cummins doesn't openly acknowledge that it's a problem, unfortunately.

If you have a first gen ('89 - '93) then you probably don't need to worry about it. It's mainly a 2nd gen 12 valve thing ('94 - '98) trucks.

Welcome aboard :D , or should I say 'Welcome Home'. ;)

I don't want to contradict the consensus on the KDP but... ...

it seems that it can be an issue for even 1st gens.

They do not have the high rate of failure that the newer trucks do, but it can and does move.

I've read of two fellows who have found theirs had moved, one of them said that it was very close to falling out. (his words)

I will have mine looked at in the near future and let you all know what I find.

BTW, using all capitals when typing is considered shouting. ( I did it too) no harm, no foul.

Regards, Bob.
