Anyone have any input or should do's on a '98, 2X, 2500, auto?

I've looked for the dreaded "53" and haven't found it.

Does the 24V still have the "KDP"?

I'm not lookin to bomb this thing, just make it a little better, IE, exhaust, guages, intake... .

Thanks,

Jerry

HowProbably doesn;t have the 53 block Jerry if you can;t find it . How many miles does it have? Don;t worry just drive it . John

That sounds like how most of us started out :-laf

Once you hit the slopes, it's slipperier (not relly a word) as you go . . . ;)

Just got it out of Texas, 120K, reese 20k fifth, overload springs, Quad, SLT, Leather... I'm lookin at

1. a leveling kit

2. shocks ? bilstein 5100 or yellers ?

3. guages (are the "box" gauges better than the analog / "a" piller?)

4. exhaust ?????? straight pipe?

5. intake ???? don't want k&n ????

Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated!

OK so at that milage it's just broken in. I used a steel leveling spacer from 4X4 Warehouse and the bule/yeller Bilsteins rides nice. The previous Monroe's weren't bad just old and were never tightened up on the bottom front properly. Gauges are a personal preferance - me I liked the Westac's I got from Geno's they were fairly inexpensive and trouble free for the past 3+ years. I put them on the "A" pillar in the tri-pod, 1-fuel psi, 1-trans temp (highly recommended) and a combo EGT/Boost.

As far as exhaust I initially went with the "inspection pipe" (muffler eliminator pipe) from Geno's it's fun and makes the truck a bit louder - don't forget to take out the turbo silencer ring (if it's still there - Ha!) then wait till the exhaust needs to be replaced. When the top bend in my system opened up a 8" X 2" hole I went with a Magnaflow system (just my preference) it was an easy install with an electric 1/2" drive impact in my driveway about 2. 5 hours (or 3-4 beers) the hardest part was getting the old system out - sawsall did the trick. As far as the eliminator pipe install - do yourself a favor and take it to the local muffler shop unless you can "hot wrench" the muffler off at home. I know what you mean about the K & N they are a nice system but I'm not sure about them on my truch - alot of guys swear by them - once again personal preference I've been looking for some time now (at least two years) and finally ordered this http://www.sbfilters.com/product_display.php?id=102 for $210 w/shipping.

Have fun and enjoy your new to you truck. how about posting a few pictures.

Oh, welcome to the TDR - a wealth of information and knowlege is bestowed upon all of us every time we log on, use the information well and beware of the slippery slope . . . . :D
