Hello gents,

My truck has just returned from the transmission shop with, what they call a Stage 1 rebuild. HD sprag, valve body, hd bands, etc. I supplied them with an ATS deep pan, and a Suncoast Convertor, and Royal Purple ATF. I had the truck back for a month, the first time the shop did the rebuild, and at that time, when i drove it for a full day, or towed my dump trailer, the CEL light came on and the exhaust brake stopped working and it was shifting erratically. I brought it back to them and they tore it back down and said that a new solenoid pack went bad. i got it back yesterday and now it feels like the truck just loses power and does not shift . It has to go to the 3K rpm range just to move. Could this be an electrically related problem? I do have numerous mods and lights on the truck, and i just put in a dual flex-a-lite fan, and i have noticed that the truck runs a little rough when it kicks on and off. The only code i have shown was a P0480- fan circuit, but i, and the trans shop do not know why the truck is behaving this way. Any thoughts??? I am going bananas... . :{

Not sure on the trans, but on a side note the fans are less cooling than stock and are not rated for heavy towing, which it seems you do. You may run into cooling issues when you get the trans figured out.

i know that, i kept the stock fan just in case, and my towing is not full time, thank you. My mechanic just came to my house and found the following codes:

P0933- Hydraulic Pressure Sensor Range Performance
P0732 Gear Ratio Error in 2nd
P0733 Gear ratio error in 3rd
P0734 Gear ratio error in 4th
and P0480 Cooling fan control circuit open.
He obviously is telling me to bring it back and he does not know why it is happening. i am beyond livid. It is like the truck is good until 2nd gear and then it just seems to neutral drop and the rpms race and the truck falls flat on its face with no power.

I have no personal knowledge or experience with modifying ISB6. 7 engines or automatic transmissions so my comment will be based on a guess. I think you, your transmission builder, and your truck's ECM and/or PCM are engaged in a battle over wo will manage your transmission.

TDR member Rowdy2 (I think that is correct) posted a year or two ago a comment about that. If I remember correctly he stated mods to the AS68RFE to firm up the shifts were wasted time and money because the computer(s) would ignore them and cause soft shifts anyway. I could be wrong about the details of his post. You can do a search of his posts if interested.

So they put upgraded bands in your transmission?

That's a new one... since there aren't any bands in the 68rfe.

You're confusing your transmissions. The C&C trucks have AS68RC transmissions, and the pickup trucks have the 68RFE, which is not made by Aisin.

Suncoast has a rebuild kit available for the 68RFE that includes a shift kit AND custom TCM tuning.

Personally, I'd stick with the OEM valve body and pump guts and go with the H&S Overdrive software for the TCM, as it greatly improves shift points and overall driveability.

I have PERSONAL EXPERIENCE with what I've mentioned above, Harvey - it's not something I read once on the internet, and I can say for a fact that neither was a waste of money. I would prefer the Overdrive TCM programming coupled with the Suncoast shift kit, but speaking again from personal experience I know for a fact that the Overdrive software is incompatible with the Suncoast shift kit, and it WILL burn up your overdrive clutches.
