I was at a local dealer the other day they had several 3500 DRW Rams. They had tires on them that I've never seen before Nexen they are what is coming on the trucks now anyone have any experience with this brand of tire.

I have them on my truck and they seem fine... very smooth. Undoubtedly they're not nearly as long lasting Michelin tires, but descent enough.

Apparently Ram has switched over to Nexen's on dually trucks from Generals... which from the many problem reports with the Generals... is a good thing.

Best regards,

John L.

Well, I will give them a shot. Looked them up online the are new but have a very good warranty on them, I've always used Michelin M/S2 thanks for the info.

mine has a set of Nexus that were pulled from a new GMC dually. They seem fine so far. Although when it gets time to replace them I will most likely go back to my BFG a/ts

I found a tire place that will do a trade. But not giving me much for the Nexen Tires. So I will just try them out and if they don't work out I can just get new Michelin l can just get the LTX M/S 2 that I know are a good tire.

I thought that I had seen that name around here before, we sell Ohtsu / Falken tires.....

"Over 30 years later, in 1985, the company was expanded through the construction of a radial tire factory in Yangsan, Korea. Through an alliance six years later with a Japanese company, OHTSU Tire & Rubber, we furthered our technological know-how and manufacturing capabilities."

Not what I would expect to see on a domestic vehicle as OEM tires.....I know, I know, we're now operating in a "global" economy...Sigh.......

Mike,

You do realize your truck was made in Mexico with plenty of Chinese sourced parts... right? :)

Oh yes, I'm on board with that. What I should have said was "A tire brand known in these parts as a low end, third or fourth fitment tire is not what I would expect to see on a domestic vehicle as OEM ....I know, I know, we're now operating in a "global" economy...Sigh.......

I somehow sleep better at night dealing with the "Global Platform" of the new Detroit Diesel DD series engines, not only are there trucks sitting in the USA awaiting back ordered replacement camshafts but the rest of the world has to wait as well.....that's progress right there....spread the pain around the globe.....:-laf

A vendor issue nowadays can affect the entire planet, think about that for a minute....

I would like to mention that the fit and finish of my '06 remains top shelf to this day. Kudos to the Saltillo plant for a truck well assembled.

Other that a few rock chips (that I have touched up) it looks as good now (when washed) as it did 135,000 miles ago. No wind whistles, bad door hinges or any of that other crap. Original brakes, wheel bearings and batteries to mention a few items with outstanding longevity. Ball joints didn't make it but you can't have everything.....:p

My local dealer talked me into a set of Nexen tires when I was between jobs and was trying to save a few bucks. He told me they every bit as good as Michelins at a lower price. He lold me they were made in the USA. I soon discovered they were made in Korea and were wearing out very fast. I got about 20k miles out of them, whereas I normally get about 80k miles out of Michelins. They did have good wet gripping and average snow gripping. I went back to Michelins and also went to a new dealer.

I think I would have taken the old tires and thrown them thru his front window.

Anytime anyone says "they are as good as xyz I will buy xyz" !
