Hey guys, I am currently running a smarty on level 9, an afe stage II, and a free flowing exhaust. My question is what would be the next best things to do for performance mods? A clutch for the six speed will soon be on the way, so that will be taken care of. I want to get more power, especially at low end. Can you add another chip or programmer to it, on top of the smarty? Would a bigger turbo be the next best thing? Would love to hear what you guys have, and what seems to work best. Thanks

A bigger turbo would be a nice addition, but I don't see a lift pump in your sig. You have some fuel issues with the SMARTY on 9. You'd do much better probably to turn it down to SW3/SW5 at least until you get a quality lift pump and then either a modded cp3 or dual cp3s and then the turbo.

Thanks, what are cp3's, and what is the best lift pump to get? Do you think the smarty is not giving full power on 9, due to the stock lift pump not giving it enough fuel? Any other suggestions? Thanks

CP3 is the Bosch high pressure pump on your truck. If modded it can produce considerably MORE high pressure fuel than it does in it's stock form,... that is if you have fuel being supplied at sufficient volume by your lift pump which delivers the fuel from the tank to your CP3. Hope that helps.

What is the best lift pump? It depends on how far down the modded path you intend to go. If you can identify by 1/4 ET or by Horse Power level you would like to attain, then we can better direct you. Also you need to consider how you will be using the truck. Is it a daily driver,... do you tow,. . how much and how heavy,... do you intend on racing it or using it at truck pulls? Those things will identify what levels of upgrade you should be looking at.

It's not that the SMARTY is not doing it's job,..... it is more like it is being limited by other systems in the truck like insufficient fuel and air. Those are the primary components to make power. So based on the limitations of fuel and air that you have you will have more success running the SMARTY at lower levels until such time that you upgrade those other systems.

Thanks, I found the diy CP3 modifications on relentless diesel and will be doing those soon. The truck is my daily driver, but is also used to tow about 6-10,000lbs couple of days a week. I've read alot about the FASS setup, and I think that is the one I will go with. What model is suggested for the setup I am running? I would like to eventually see around 550-600 HP.

With your 2003 model, I see some FLUX injectors in uour future. 03's tend to really respond to injectors
