Competition Weekend on the Edge

Last weekend I raced my pickup at the 34th Annual Pepsi Nightfire Nationals, in Boise, ID. and won the Sportsman Championship! Oo. Oo. The Nightfire is four one day races, and the Champion is the one with the most points at the end of the four days. This is also a Wally race, so I now have a Wally, that was won with a diesel pickup! I wonder how many other Wally's have been won with a diesel pickup... Might be an interesting poll. The NHRdA sticker drew a lot of attention.

Special thanks goes to Rip Rook at Source Automotive for technical support, as well as great prices on parts. Also thanks goes to Don M for an awesome set of injectors (very consistent), and to DTT for a transmission that has worked flawlessly.

Way to go Paul!!!!!!!!! :D

You told me I should go do a National event and now you go and WIN one!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I was there with you. I had a blast there last year at the Fox hunt I believe that is when you introduced me to wild world of tire shake

Great job Paul I'll see at Mission next weekend and bring that Wally with you I want to take a look at it

Great Job Paul. That Wally should be an awesome source of pride for many years to come.

So what times were you running? How many times were you swamped in the pits with questions like, "are you running propane" or "is that a diesel" :-laf

Great job.

Congrats, I was just looking on Boise website and seen you won. I don't think most guys know how big of an event you won, this race has alot of the best racers in the northwest.

The "are you running propane" question was asked quite a bit. I would just point to my BBQ, and tell them that is the only propane I use! :-laf The announcer made pretty sure that everyone knew it was a diesel. Probably a good thing... I was racing with the Comp box off, to keep it slow enough for the class, so there was no smoke at all. Sportsman at Boise is limited to no faster then 14 seconds. Hard to slow down to 14. I kept thinking that something was broken on the launch! :D

Thanks Stefan! In the four days of racing, I only had one round that I would consider an easy one. Very competitive racing.

I'll be sure to bring it. I'm looking forward to racing at Mission again.

That is simply OUTSTANDING Paul! I would be willing to bet you're the first to win a Wally with a diesel. How frickin' cool is that? Oo. :) Will your brother be putting together a video? If so, bring it to a race if you can so I can see the action.

Man, that is just KILLER! No wonder you're doing so well in the NHRDA... :D

Congratulations!

My brother didn't go this time, so no video. :( There were a bunch of cars that didn't think it was so cool... :-laf One of the best was I was paired up with a guy in a Pontiac GTS, and I heard him tell his buddy, that "this one is in the bag". I sure wish I could have heard the conversation he had after the race. :-laf It still makes me smile thinking about it!

A Wally is the name of the trophy you win at an NHRA national event

When you see the pictures of Top Fuel Dragster drivers holding up a trophy of a guy standing next to a big slick that is a Wally.

Kinda like Nobel prize for drag racers :D
