I have the centramitcs on my 13 and they are very much worth it. I have always wanted a product like the cross-fire but have never took the time to really research them. Might have to give those a try. I have really wanted them more for convenience checking the tire pressure and airing the tires up. Give us a report after your cross country trip.

Our last 3 fire trucks came with the cross fire pressure equalizers. Pierce must put them on for a reason.

The only reason I went ahead and bought the Cross-fires was because when the kids bought us some RV toys one of them was an electronic tire pressure sensor that sits on the dash. With that came a coupon for the Cross-fire buy 1 get 1 free. The "Cool Factor" alone was worth it to me

After reading the Link I was sort of interested in the facts they gave about "Tire air Pressure Equalization" I don't think that ANY ROAD would be crowned radically enough to worry about such things but who knows. Look around Lots of Trucking companies run this or similar products, so there must be something to it.

It is kind of nice to NOT have to go around and thump the tires to make sure they have air. The most positive thing I've found is that the Electronic Pressure on the dash & the Cross-fire are VERY CLOSE to the same readings.

The Centermatics are really nice. Large tire balancing was Iffy at best with the cost of the tires close to $600.00 each the cost of the Centermatics is insignificant.

Crown isn't the only thing. I've seen trailers on one wheel while the other wheel is atop a deep (1-2") rut in the asphalt. There are plenty of conditions that would cause one tire of a dual to take a significantly greater load than its mate.
