Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Niece stranded in CA, need help

Need a little help here buds. My niece lost her dad some time ago and I'm trying to pick up the slack. Her 2003 3500 left her afoot in Los Banos CA with a failed lift pump. It is at the Dodge dealer there. The dealer is telling her the LP is on national back order. Any idea if a dealer will install a LP purcahsed from a Cummins dealer. They are also telling her that there was a bunch of crap in her fuel filter. I changed her fuel filter at Christmas time less than 6,000 miles ago all was well at that time. . Once she gets to school at Cal Poly in San Luis obispo. I want her to have a fuel pressure gauge installed. She rodeos and really needs to have her truck not strand her. Does any body know of a good shop near her. The truck is bone stock any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. note to moderator. Ventura,Ca has a Cummins parts dealership and service shop. They have been very good to me. I if the pump is "national back order" status I would think the dealership would put genuine factory parts in if the customer was stranded. Call Cal Pacific Cummins and see if they have it, and ship it to your niece. If I was closer... . Rich

Can I help?

I am in the small town of Aromas, CA, which is where highway 156 from Los Banos joins hwy 101. I have a spare stock lift pump in my truck. I am in the TDR help listings, also Coast Fuel Injection Inc in Salinas stocks Cummins lift pumps and will install them, 831 758 9459. The Cummins pump is cheeper than the dealers version and appears more rugged.

Just noticed in your message that the needy truck is an 03, my pump is from my 01! I don't know if they are the same, but Coast would be good place to look for the right pump.

Stay away from Los Banos Dodge Dealer..... I know its late now but they have terrible service... I speak from experence. . Even dodge zone suggested not to use them. . I have had very good results with Cummins West located in Fresno,Ca...

try contact one of the San Jose Ram Runners . . several guys live in the LB area or just across the hill in Holister



if She is dead in the water the Fresno area is to far away [about 1 hr plus a couple min]



there are some farm shops there I'm sure. . case, IH, ect that might be able to help. . some even stock Cummins parts , don't know if the newer Cases or the like use the third gen. style motor parts yet



also try the Merced Dodge dealer [1/2 hr away] for parts, worth a try
