Has anyone experience with the Nitro 9000 gas shocks found at JCW? Several Dodge owners have posted favorably on their site, but, I'd rather get info from the TDR experts!:D I need to replace my tires and thought I would check out new shocks at the same time.

I have never ran them, but they are a twin-tube design. mono-tube shocks last way longer, cooler, and smoother. Mono-tube and twin-tube, is the way the internals operate, and have nothing to do with number of shocks on a vehicle. Mono-tube shocks start at $80. 00 each and go up into the many hundreds from there. Adjustable mono-tube shocks cost a little. I think I payed $90. 00 for Edelbrock shocks. They are internally self-adjusting depending on the terrain. Bilsteins are also an excellent shocks. These trucks are so heavy, I feel that, if budget allows, any name brand mono-tube shock would serve you better. Oh yeah, did I mention that I have had these Edelbrocks on since 2001, and have over 150,000 mile of hard use on them. They pay off in the long run. Hope this helps.

Al,

I've run the 9000s in several trucks, and don't know how much better they are than any other quality, name brand shock. I like the adjustibility, but I'm not going to crawl under my truck the majority of time to adjust shocks for load and road conditions, mostly because my trucks are usually nasty as the ranch roads. For the moeny, they are decent shocks. I've had issues with the bushings coming out of them at less then they should mileage, though. Bilstien makes one of the best shocks out there. I also believe Geno's carries them.

Now, I should mention that when I first put them on, I was unhappy in the fact that the truck would bottom out off road and over rail road tracks. I don't know if it bottomed out on the bump stops, or the shock itself was bottoming out. I ordered mine through the Jegs magazine. I later installed a 2. 5" level kit, and it drove like a dream. I think they sent me a shock that was too long. I like the extra travel the level kit/shocks gave me. Most importantly it doesn't feel squishy and doesn't bounce. Bilsteins are also supposed to be a good choice. Like HHhuntitall pointed out, they are sold at Geno's Garage online. I'm not trying to confuse you, but I thought you should know the whole story. I would do it again.
