nitro does mix well with methanol! :D

nitro is like a feisty latina girl w/ a few drinks in her... an awful bunch of fun and makes really loud noises, but she can turn on you on a dime!

I'll leave the nitro for the guys w/ deeper pockets to play with

It does mix well, Because methanol is another form of alcohol,

and in the Top fuel cars they use 85% nitro 15% Alcohol

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think also, if you could get the ratio right,The drive pressure be phenomenal(even more than nitrous) Correct??

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for leaving the Nitro to the guys with deep pockets, I'd have to agree at $35. 00 a gallon :-laf

Well, let's say that the normal 2500F on the data logger pyro was well exceeded. We lost only one hole and one injector, as we kind of slugged one hole with most of the spray.

It was a early version of a water injection, and it was only about 10-20% Nitro.

But it made for neat sounds!

I thought 'twas the other way 'round: 85% meth, 15% nitro... .

Currently, I believe, NHRA rules state max 85% Nitromethane and 15% Alcohol. A few years ago it was 98%Nitro2%Alcohol. They lessened the amount of Nitro to slow down the TopFuelers/AAFunnycars and to alleviate alot of the blow ups/oil downs which take away from TV airtime and such. The master tuners that they are (crew chiefs) have still made these monsters faster with a less potent fuel(pop)... :--)

You can send that latino girl my way!!!

I'd like one really good go around!!!!

fwiw, one of out techs in the shop spent 16 years in the nhra working on fuel cars. I ran this question by him, He said in no uncertain terms to forget it & get it out of my head. Nitro wont light with a open flame & is very stable until you compress it. With a diesels compression the #s will go off the charts. A fuel car runs around 7:1 compression. We have racing diesel fuel we are helping develop though. It will be for sale soon.
