Hey guys,

I'm wondering what kind of additional boost pressures Nitrous makes? Not that I'm going to get a kit or anything, but my "Freind" is just curious. I realize there's differant kits available, so let's just say fer example, a 2-stage 150 HP kit.

The nitrous wouldn't be used on a regular bacis, but my "Freind" just want's a little insurance, ya know just in case.

Also what kinds of problems should I (I mean my "freind") expect from using nitrous? What additional upgrades would be nessesary?

My "Freinds" truck is identiclly set-up like mine, so you can use my sig. for comparison purposes. :-laf :-laf

Thanks guys

Tell your friend:p ;) , to call DD. They have a kit for our diesel now that is a fogger system, the high hp stuff. When MY friend decides that No. 2 aint enough, HE is going to get one from them more then likly. :D

Andrew

Yea, I just checked that kit out, but it didn't say how much horsepower it made, anybody know? Being Sunday, I'm sure they won't answer their phones.

My "freind" also would like to know if it's possible to connect the kit in "stealth" form, as I (my freind) have never messed with NOS before,I (my freind) want to keep it low profile.

And what about boost pressures? Anybody?

Its gonna make a bunch of pressure, i'm planning on o-ringing the head soon. The more black smoke u have the more ability to make hp u have. if u put a 150 hp no2 on a stock motor, it ain't gonna make much difference at all, if u're rolling the black smoke out and have giant injectors than Yah!, oh boy feal the power. The kit comes with different pills to plug into the fogger for your desired amout of HP. Keith is the guy to talk to at DD.

First thing, throw out any nitrous kit ratings you see.

Second thing, the amount of horsepower depends on how much extra fuel you have to burn. Alot of the nitrous users have really big injectors to use the nitrous which is how they gain 150+hp from nitrous, where as say someone with DDII's wouldn't see that big of a gain using the same nitrous setup.

Theres lots of stealthy ways to go about, just have to get creative. I would recomend the DD kit because they have things well thought out and it obviously works, they still have the stock head/gaskest on the white truck which shocked me.

Since you haven't messed with nitrous yet, talk to people, learn all you can and start out conservitive since you have the stock headgasket (even tho you just changed it).

When the time comes I'll have the DD nitrous kit. They use nitrous express stuff that has a lifetime warrenty on the solenoids.

Both Bully Dog and DD offer N02 kits. As far as I know both use NX brand components (which is what I think is best). I do know that Bully Dog offers 3 different configurations of their kit as well as offering to set one up the way you would like. My kit uses Hobbs switches to turn the solenoids on/off so it is automatic once armed.

As for your question on additional boost pressure it is hard to say... . I have only seen about 3-5 psi more on my boost gauge when on N02. I would recommend O-ringing your head if you see boost levels over 50 psi. I ran mine quite a bit at 50-54 psi and the gasket held, but when I went above this level it let loose.

As the other members mentioned N02 makes power by allowing you to burn unburnt fuel. If you don't have smoke ON boost N02 won't help. The guys making power on N02 all use BIG injectors. Restating what Kat said throw out the published N02 HP #'s given when applying to a diesel. The amount of gain will be dependant on the extra fuel you have and the amount of N02 applied. On my truck (with lots of time tuning on a dyno) I was able to squeeze an extra 250 HP using N02.

One other item, a 2 stage kit is harder to tune and setup than a single stage... . Most people will be able to make equal HP with both setups. Unless you are going to run huge amounts of N02 and are looking to try and lower et's by a couple hundreths of a second you might want to consider a single stage. Plus if a two stage is not tuned right it may actually make less power and produce higher et's at the strip.

Good luck,

Doug

Jetpilot, hi, awesome numbers u threw out the other day. I went and ordered a B-1 sortly after. Have u installed a cam in your motor? Also got a no2 question, in a gasser u can fry pistons pretty easy if u get too much no2 and not enough fuel, can u do the same in a diesel? Keith at DD said that too much nos won't burn up the motor, it will just extinguish the fire. Is this true. I know u're pushing the edge with nos and just curious. Oh and what kind of egt's before and after u hit the button? thanx, reb

Doug and Eric,

Thanks, you two guys answered just about all of the questions I had. The head gasket thing was a drag,I wanted to get it o-ringed,but no time, it's to bad the gasket didn't let me know it was on it's way out. Now it will probobly mid summer before I'll have the time to do it.

As far as smoke, I got some, I'm not sure it's as much as you guys are talking about, maybee I'll hold off 'till I get bigger injectors,I mean 'till my "freind" gets bigger injectors.

ditto on Jetpilot's and Kat's comments---o-ringing should be mandatory unless you set your wastegate to blow off at or around 48-50psi, but even then that may be to high for the turbo--just more to think about..... there is an o-ringing tools out in CA ---HVAC @ www.PerfromanaceDiesel.net

Just so people know, Piers can O-ring your head..... He is also talking about purchasing another O-ring tool so people can do it themselves at home. Anyone with any questions can contact him.

Just spent the weekend doing a little preventative maintenance on the ol head gasket;) , now its time for the shower heads and the no2 kit. Funny how i think my truck is a dog with the pm3 comp and dd3's, when will it end.
