Looking for dry nitrous. . not LP!!

Who's using it?

# of stages?

Where is it injected?

Nozzle sizes?

Where'd ya get it?

How many HP was it worth??

Any Problems?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Dry nitrous? Wet systems inject fuel+NOS. Dry systems inject only nitrous. I think all NOS systems on diesels are dry expect for maybe HVAC. :)

Who's using it?

Me

# of stages?

2

Where is it injected?

Post intercooler, pre intake manifold

Nozzle sizes?

30,82

Where'd ya get it?

Summit

How many HP was it worth??

17

Any Problems?

My problem was obviously the 17 HP. I've narrowed it down to being the solenoids themselves being a HUGE restriction. I used two powershot solenoids since they are rated at 175 HP each. I assumed they would be MORE than overkill. WRONG! They have tiny little orifices. You can activate them and blow through them with your mouth to see how restrictive it is. If using NOS, I'd recommend something bigger than a CHEATER. A lot of the HIGH HP guys are using NX (nitrous express) stuff. Their orifices are over 1/8".

Diesel Dynamics has a kit.

BullyDog has a kit.

I'll be buying the Diesel Dynamics kit, for several reasons. I'll prolly wait until after my head is O-ringed tho since I need my truck to drive everyday.

I'll be using a single stage.

There are a multitude of places to inject it.

Nozzle sizes dunno yet.

Nitrous Express solenoids have a lifetime warrenty.

Bottle duration, depends on what size you use, and how much nitrous you burn. The horsepower gained will be different on every trucks, depends on which injectors the truck has.

I dunno how much the BullyDog kit is, but the Diesel Dynamics kit is $650 (10lb bottle)..... BUT they are revising the kit with some better parts so I don't know what the new ones will go for.

I have no complaints with my Bully Dog 2 stage system---it gave me about 200- 220hp over diesel---yes that's right 220hp---could be the 55 gallon drum injectors--or did I leave them out???----dyno'd 413hp uncorrected(figuring 450 corrected) on diesel and 676(corrected, 613hp uncorrected) with the NOS---depending on injectors, turbo, fueling boxes and lift pump you may or may not see this #---this is without a torque convertor lock up switch----chris

Chris,

I think my injectors are big enough now... I left my truck at home for the wife and left the comp on 4/3. She said it didn't cruise smoothly.

I had her set it back to 1/1 and she say it "runs really good!' hehehehe!!

I wish I was there to play with it.

I'll be home tomorrow to fool around a bit. I got it bolted back together on sunday and didn't get to play much before I left.

Thanks,

Mark

Also since search feature works again do a search on nitrous, you'll dig up alot of recent information.

Order yourself a Nitrous Express catalog too. I ordered a NOS catalog, they never sent it.

Mark,

Hope this helps... ... :)

Who's using it?

I have had it installed for about 2 months.

# of stages?

I am running a 2 stage system. If I was to do it again I would probably go with a single stage to simplify tuning.

Where is it injected?

Into the intake horn.

Nozzle sizes?

I assume you mean jet size? This will depend upon the amount of extra fuel available. Guys with twins use less N02 then guys running small single turbos, etc.

Where'd ya get it?

I got mine from Bully Dog. They have several systems available up to and including putting together a custom setup for you.

How many HP was it worth??

So far I have gained 250 HP.

Any Problems?

The head gasket blew... ... I would suggest an O-ringed head when using N02.

N.O.S.?

I,ve been thinking about n. o. s. or propane. Something that I don't have to run all the time, just at the track or pulls. Do you guys think it would be worth it with my mods. (see sig. )I'm still pretty mild as far as injectors go because of the fact that I live it the mountains and pull heavy once in a while. Gas would probably help my e. t. s with the 5spd. would it not?... Doug

P. S. Doug did you ever get your head back yet, hope to see that beast run soon.

Doug the head is on:D. I am in the process of trying out a few new ideas..... looking at your sig. I think you will need larger injectors to get much benefit from N02. If you don't have a lot of smoke on boost N02 will not add much. Let me know if I can help out with your decision on N02.

With just Stage II injectors, you won't gain much at all if anything from using nitrous, other then maybe spinning your turbo up faster. You don't have enough addtional fuel to burn.

Im going to be experimenting with NOS soon,Ive read a lot and talked to a few guys (thanks Jetpilot),and from what Ive got now,it seems that you need major injectors to use NOS,like 125+Hp at the minimum. I think i will be piecing my own system together,or buying the Bully dog kit.

If you want the "big" 150 to 200hp gains, you'll have to go bigger on injectors.

I figure even with step IV's (120hp) I wouldn't gain over 75hp... again I am just guessing.

I have decided to O-ring the head first, so if I screw up with nitrous experiments I won't pop the head gasket.

I'm not so sure about using a big shot of NOS at the sled pulls---you might leave some parts on the track---out here you can't, can't even use propane---chris

Well fellas,

I definitely have plenty of fuel. The tighter housing on the B1 along with the extra fuel is amazing!!!

I ordered some nitrous through Sparky. He got it from HVAC so it ought to be first rate.

Those two fellas seem to complement each other. . what one doesn't have the other does and they work together:cool:

Jetpilot, I definiety give you a yell when it shows up.

Kat, I'm gonna get the catalogs. . no matter what I get it'll never be enough;):D:D

Not NOS, but you did mention o-ringin'.....

KatDiesel, you're o-ringin' the head and block... . right? I have never heard of just machining the head... . that's why I ask... .

Matt

Matt,

You can do either or both. the handy part about o-ringing the head only is that you can ship it if you need to.

ATS is Oringing heads and porting using CNC machining. HVAC, Piers and Enterprise have oring tools to do either.

I depends on who's doing it and how as to whats necessary.

Later,

Mark
