Tried like hell to get the $500 Farm Bureau rebate, but couldn't get the job done. If you aren't a farmer or work in agriculture, they want nothing to do with you. I'm in construction... couldn't BS my way through because they wanted proof of agriculture-related occupations. Obviously, my membership money isn't as green as other's, judging by the indignant treatment I got when I called the NJ bureau. "This is THE farm lobby. . it's for farmers ONLY" I was told. You must go through the gauntlet of the phone call because membership applications are not available without first enduring the Spanish Inquisition.

I did not have a problem although sales manager at Dodge dealer in Ada , Oklahoma where I bought my truck did have to call and explain proper procedure to the Farm Bureau in Louisiana. But I did get my 500 bucks for 35 dollar membership fee and I am a service technician for equipment in data processing dept.

I here ya. I'm also in NJ and I thought the farm bureau was to support agriculture even if you were'nt a farmer. I tried many times just to get someone on the phone to try and apply that I finally gave up.

No problem joining here in MD. Filled out the application which I got on line, faxed it in and had my card a couple of weeks later. Spending 50 bucks to get 500 is a pretty good deal.

Can't you join in another state? I joined over the phone in CA with a credit card in 5 minutes. Took another week or so to get the handy dandy $500 certificate. You shouldn't have to beg somebody to take your money.

NSperduto: I hear ya. They must not need money or support for the farming industry in Jersey. Others on the site said no problem to join if you're not a farmer. Obviously, none of those people are from Joisey... the Garbage, er, um, Garden State, LOL! I'm ****** I missed out on the $500 rebate. I probably could have joined another state's bureau... you know, one where they don't discriminate aginst dead green presidents, LOL!

I had no trouble getting the Farm Bureau $500 rebate here in Washington state. Cost me $15 to join and I had my $500 certificate in my hot little hand in 30 days. And, BTW, the closest I have ever come to farming is watching Green Acres reruns on tv

I paid $35 in AZ. When you call to sign up, they just assume that you are doing it for the Dodge $500 discount and sign you up.
