Left to go hunting today, pulled out and my trans would not shift out of first gear. If I left off the throttle and then get back on it again it will shift. Took it to a trans shop and he says I have no second gear and it is going from 1st to 3rd. Anyone else had this problem. I only have 57000 miles and the deal won't do I thing. Dose this really mean a new trans?

Call DTT at 1 866 504 4002 toll free. ( Pacific time zone )Bill will give you good advice. Why won't the dealer help you?

my 98 did the same thing and belive me its all down hill from there. ive put upwards of 40000 miles on mine like that and it just keeps slipping and getting worse, kinda been pushing off changing it because of time and i want to convert it to a 5 spd. but as tom just said id call dtt and talk to bill about it has to be the smartest transmission man on the planet. and id do it soon because it wasnt long after that i started finding chunks of metal in the pan!!!

Well took it to the shop today. They opened it up and found that part of the case broke off that held the 2nd gear band in place. The band spun and tore up the inside. They will let me know tomorrow with with all that wrong inside. I will keep you informed.

I had the same thing happen to my truck at around 102,000. I had it fixed at HaisleyMachine and they told me that the 2nd gear "dog" had broken off. They fixed it for around $370 and change the transmission fluid and filter. What ended up happening with your truck?

Haisley Machine is really into some high-end truck mods and probably could have sold me a new transmission. I thought they were real professional, honest and seem to do outstanding work. I would recommend them to anyone in the area: www.haisleymachine.com

The shop ended up rebuilding the entire transmition. Upgraded and updated it. $2500. 00 price tag. But the truck is doing great. Shifts hard though, the shop said it's do to the heavy tc.
