Jump in to the truck this am and 1/2 way to work I had the brake light and ABS light on. Bit of a panic thinking I had the brake applied... but it appears that the issue might be a sensor?? However, ran into really icy roads on the way home and the old girl wouldn't get into 4X4... Can't seem to find any pointers... Any thoughts guys!!! (Hey been a while with no issues!!)

I have no codes showing, systems show as ok and no codes are showing on my insight. Will have to get the ABS scanned but the 4x4 "Should" be a separate system... Why all 3 showed up at once???

How old are your batteries and do you have clean tight connections and a good ground? Since no codes are showing this could be an issue.

I know this may seem crazy but the Ram electrical system is very very sensitive to interrupted electrical current issues. If you have old batteries they could be failing and cause issues with sensors and such; load check is the only way to insure that the batteries are good. If there is a lot of corrosion on the battery cables or a loose connection than this too could cause and issue or a loose ground strap.

I had issue with my batteries and a lot of electrical issues showed up some that you would not even think as a bad battery could cause. They all went away when I installed new batteries and clean and tighten the battery cables. Just another area to look at.

Hmmm Interesting Jim... Will check it out but they are new last year... I'll check the connections anyhow. I had no burned out fuses, so it's either 2 separate issues happening at once ABS and 4WD actuator or... As always TDR is great...

Thanks Guys... 4x4 went in to 4H -> 4L -> 4H wouldn't go back to 2H then back to 4L and then it went to 2H... Erratic... Did a quick slide under but could see no obvious issues. Is there a schedmatic for the 2008 4X4? I found a great site but it only dealt with the older setup... H

It will be extremely difficult to trouble shoot any system with out a scanner that is operated by a controller

Operating ranges are selected with a dash mounted shift selector switch. The shift selector switch provides a input to the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) to indicate the driver's desire to change operating ranges. The TCCM uses this input, along with input from the transfer case mounted mode sensor and information from the vehicle's bus, to determine if a shift is permitted. If the TCCM decides the shift is permitted, the TCCM controls the shift motor, mounted to the exterior of the transfer case, to perform the shift.

This exact same thing happened to me yesterday. Got home from a 500 mile trip and shut truck off. Started it back up and ABS light and brake light came on and 4 wheel drive will not work. I can't find any codes either.

are TCM's available on the after market??? I'd hate to think what Dodge would charge!!! Got it into 4H this AM big snow storm, blowing snow low visibility and lots of drifts... Take it in Wednesday. . Will let you all know whats what!

Harrison,
I would make sure that you return the truck to stock with the Smarty before you go to the dealer otherwise the Smarty maybe locked out of the new ECM.

Okay...

The issue with the 4x4 and the ABS sensor were related. Fixed the sensor and no issues with the 4X4. Vibration... Lots of ice around the driveshaft. Recording setting snowfall this year. I don't let the dealer touch the ECM. No flashing... warn em every time I take it into a dealer which is next to never. Whats up with the latest flash and locking out? Thanks!

OK, I can find the front wheel sensors no problem. Where are the rear wheel sensors? The only things I have going to the rear wheels are the hose for the brake fluid and the emergency brake cable.
