Had a set of electric steps installed on my truck recently and now the passenger side of my dash vents only blow hot cabin air. While the driver side blows ice cold air.

Had issues with the instrument panel reinstall done sloppy, and they fixed it a few days later, in 15 minutes. Now this!

Any idea what they did wrong while wiring my steps into the wiring behind the instrument panel, that would cause this problem?

Side Notes. The AC rarely comes on on the right side, but 15 seconds later goes back to the hot air scenario. Also, about 6 months ago I had Dodge do the air control box replacement for over $1000 and its worked flawlessly since.

Any and all advice and experiences welcome.

Do you have dual temp control for each side of the dash ? That seems to be your problem or the only one I can think of. Should be electrcal problem, mite be mechanical.
My dash looks like it be pain to get to anything on pasenger side, I imagine it is worse with yours.

I do not have dual zone controls. Since it occasionally blows cold for a few seconds Im thinking a wiring connection got damaged while they were in my dash.

Still looking for anyone with knowledge of how the air control box operates, and where the connections are behind the dash?

The AC on these trucks is different than any other: the passenger side gets the top of the evaporator airflow. So when the system runs low on R134a the bottom of the evaporator gets cold, but, the top doesn't. This causes the passenger side to blow warmer than the driver's side. I have posted up where the system due to a ECM bug doesn't cut the compressor off during extreme high side pressure and the fan can't ramp up at cold idle RPM's. No fan = overheating condenser = high high side pressure = blowing the relief valve and 1 LB of R134a (half the charge) gets dumped out. This is a 2x yearly event or more for some.

The heater box having 2 doors to open and close it can also cause trouble say with a door broken or door out of time.

Looks like it may be under warranty with Dodge so that would be your next step.

Iam trying to pin down if my electric step installer (Toys for Trucks) caused this issue. My AC worked good the day I took it in to get the instrument bezels realigned properly. It took 15 minutes for them to fix it at 9AM. Went to my doctors appt and an hour later (11AM) the air coming pout of the AC passenger side was blistering hot. As I ran the AC while driving for 20 minutes it almost never blew air colder than the cab 90-100F. Driver side air was freezing cold at the same time. So is there a door on the air control box that is not opening? Is it electrically operated?

An hour after I posted the above I read the above link for HeaterTreater.
I must be dense because I still cannot figure out why the passenger side only blows recirc air/ outside air, instead of blowing the AC cold air? Hmmmm? I will check for any codes when I get my truck back from the bodyshop. May be a clue there?
