The weather finally got warm enough here to turn on the AC. Long story short, it doesn't get cold. When I bought the truck used, the AC didn't work either, but they fixed it at the dealer and it was fine all summer. My question is what does it take to fix? I'm thinking last time they just recharged the coolant, but I dont' want to have to do it every year. Any ideas?

Edited to say the truck is an 02 2500.

do you have an aftermarket intake? If so it could be rubbing the lines by that. Or you can pick up a leak check kit at a parts store. see if its leaking someplace.

yeah they had one at O'Reilys last time I was in there. I just know my AFE rubbed the AC line, so though I would throw it out there.

Had a similar problem on our previous truck, a gas 2002 GMC 2500HD.

Turned out to be a slow leak in the evaporator.

One of the several reasons for buying our 2006 CTD.
