No back arrow’s on the site with IOS?

I’m having problems navigating this site using an Ipad Pro with IOS 11.4.1 What happens is when reading forum posts
or classifieds instead of using a back arrow to navigate to a previous page I have to go back to forums and start from the beginning as there is no back arrow. Anyone else having these problems? The new site is getting to be unusable for me.

Don't have mine handy but IIRC you have to scroll all the way to either the top or bottom of the page to see the arrows that will then let you got back to the previous page.

Thank’s for the response Greg, I carefully looked again but don’t see any back arrows anywhere on the page, top, bottom or sides.
Sure is irritating though

I just tried it on my iPhone, when in a thread I have to scroll down and use the Safari back button to go back a page. I used the wife's Mac Book Pro last weekend on the TDR and I don't recall an issue backing up. Maybe the iPad behaves differently???
If I have time when I get home I'll fire hers up on the TDR and watch closer....

Yes, Iphone and ipads use IOS and macs, MacBooks use OSX. Apparently, this new site software must not be compatable
With IOS at least not for me. I scrolled all the way down and dont even have a Safari back arrow.

No I don’t have any of that with any swiping of the screen. I’ve been on TDR since ‘03 and never had any problems whatsoever.
Until the new software. It’s probably something I’m doing wrong but haven’t been able to figure it out yet

I've investigated this and apparently, there's a long known problem with iOS Safari browsers and how they try to accelerate pages and handle caching. If a page has an inline frame on it, sometimes Safari disables the back button handling. The theme here uses such frames, so it *may* be the reason. Before I investigate for a solution, can you browse the site with Firefox for iOS, and let me know if you have the same issue? If the problem disappears with Firefox, then I know I'm on the right track towards resolving this.

Well there it is. I never suspected a browser problem because Safari works navigating the other Cummins forums.
I Love TDR but thought I’d have to let my 13 year old Subscription expire. One question though, Why does Safari
Work with other forums and worked well with the previous TDR version?

Its not this software per se, as Xenforo has been out for years and this is not listed as a bug on their support site, nor can I find mention of anyone experiencing this. But... we use a custom "theme" from a third party company and it uses all kinds of framing for visual effects (such as the menu bar sticking to the top when you scroll). I don't know what specifically in the theme causes it, but I will find out.

I found out about Safari by doing a Google search on disappearing back buttons on iPad/iPhone, and over and over again Safari came up! Found various solutions, and also stuff like "don't do this in a web page's HTML to avoid it".

Worst case, if I cannot find a solution that works with this theme, I'll set up an alternate theme based on the stock Xenforo theme that you'll be able to select.

I don’t think it’s worth your hassle if I’m the only one with the problem. It seemed to work on Mwilson’s
IOS device allthough IIR, he was scrolling all the way down out of the frame. I don’t mind having to load Firefox to navigate the site it just means
more steps. I’m just glad you figured it out, this was driving me nuts.

It won't be a problem to make the stock theme available. Its just a matter of a resized logo and copying over some of the custom changes we made to the third party themse. We like getting things such as this working, because for every person who reports a bug, there are usually many who don't. Especially first time visitors, they might simply get frustrated and leave never to come back!

When I’m on the TDR home page, there is no URL seen, same with other pages such as forums, classifieds etc.

Okay, another question.... does swipe to go back also not work?

No it does not. Swiping R or L does nothing, swipiing up displays frequenty use apps and swiping down displays notifications.
What might help if you could borrow an IOS device using the latest 11.4.1 (preferably an ipad) as iphones display a little differently.
I’m hoping this isn’t only on my end or I’m going to feel like a real Dumb A$$. If I can help in any way, I’d be happy to.

Borrowing one would be very difficult where I am, the town has less than 700 people. I use an Android based phone and have two Android based tablets. There's an online tool I've used before for TDR browser testing that lets me remotely use a large number of device and browser combinations, and I've requested approval to reactivate my account there for testing purposes. I should know in a couple of hours and will post back here.

Firefox I can still navigate the site.
