2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission No brakes...Brake Question

Yesterday while driving my truck I went to step on the brake pedal and it was really soft, went almost down to the floor. Pumped it twice and it was fine again. It did this off and on in my 100 mile ride yesterday. Towards the end I would hear metal on metal. I assume the front pads are shot. But usually you hear it making noise long before the pedal goes to mush.

Have not had time to look at it yet. But am I right thinking its the pads? Fluid is at the full mark.

The pad lining may have come off one of the brakes?? bg
